Is the lifestyle so hard to comprehend!

Just picked up the Sunday papers and interesting read in Sunday times magazine on swinging. Seems the writer see positives and negatives but all in all think he's on the fence!

Intresting comment how the lifestyle and the honesty involved has saved many marriages.

I would totally agree Pink Panther... there is level of openness and respect between a married swinging couple that can be missing from a vanilla situation.

Totally agree!!! An unstable or difficult marriage won't last long on a site like this!!

Think the photos that were used in the article certainly are aimed at making swingers out to be some sort of freak show!

Don't think its a piece that would be representative of the true nature of the lifestyle!

I agree if the marriage is broken this is not going to fix it....but men or women in a sexless marriage might disagree

I can't remember the name, but there is a book about swinging, written by a woman in the states that claims her marriage would not have survived if they hadn't gotten into the swinging lifestyle.

So I'm guessing it can help some marriages.

Very good point Davie t...

Think the fact that a lifestyle couple can openly say to their partner "i think he or she is hot" and perhaps act on it is what makes it work. All too often in non swinging couples its kept unsaid and can build up til one or both act on it does the dirt and betrays the other.

Mr Davie t and I both agree if we had not got into this lifestyle there's a great chance we both would have had a few flings...so for us it works well

I agree with the above posts that it definitely won't fix what's already broken but can help solidify an already healthy relationship, it takes a lot of honesty and communication and at times hard work so I think it helps if those things are already there.

It takes 'all sorts' but the idea of generalizing on what might be good for most marriages based on the experiences of a minuscule number of

'swinging couples' is beyond reason. The interaction, family background, psychology, life traumas, sexual experiences, etc etc...have a great bearing on lifestyle choices.....

Totally agree PP. We went in to this together, browse together and wont entertain the idea of playing alone. This works for us, maybe others are different.

Of course your right you can't generalise on this subject what works for one might be a nightmare for someone else...

Much prefer to be open about the people I'm meeting as opposed to doing it behind my wifes back. Understand exactly where you're coming from Mrs. Davie t. Takes a stronger relationship to be open than being unfaithful.
