maybe the man has to go to this event and the organisers have set a black tie dress code even though not everyone likes the tux look. i dont for one.

a nice black suit and black tie is perfect for the event

If i was on the door no one be getting in sorry not been horrible a dress code is a dress a code and its put in place as a rule of that venue.

yea way more relaxed now mate but one or two pubs in kk tried the dress code but failed.

Black tie is black tie - all the men are the same. All the attention then falls on the ladies.

Maybe ask the lady you are escorting - she may not be comfortable with you not in black tie

( assuming ladies are going)

I have a tux but put on a little weight over the last few months so was looking for an alternative.

Yes I know a uniform is OK , I have another occasion for it in two weeks...

An ordinary black suit works for me. A white work shirt and a sleek bow tie.
