Dublin West

Or if you have them on whattsap or kik or viber or snapchat is also looks in there, of if they have your details on their phone it suggests them as friends for you.

I have a few fabbers in my phone contacts and on whatsapp. I use the Facebook app on my phone and also use fab on my phone sometimes. I've never had fabbers turn up in my suggested friends, at least not that i'm aware of. Could it be that the link is not so much phone apps as android itself? My phone is not android run.

I've an iPhone and went into settings and blocked fb from using my contacts but it still shows them as suggestions! Think I'm better off deleting the fb app

Fair enough, i was just throwing it out there as a possibility. Mine is by now, an old fashioned symbian phone. There is of course the other fact that i haven't synced my phone and my laptop, nor do i have a gmail account, as a lot of devices require you to have to run their apps. Maybe that's why i'm not having these problems? I'm a techno dinosaur

I couldn't give a shite!

Personally I've nothing to hide,

I don't care if I appear on someone's 'suggested friends'.

I am what it says on the tin

(Ok I got commission from Ronseal for that),

and anyone who has my number on here has it for a reason.

Sure, a few have appeared on my page, but so what? I already know them anyway...

In my opinion, If you've nothing to hide then why worry?

It's only suggested friends, they're not inside your private life (unless you send them a friend request).

Anyway, that's just me...

Only the other night Doc was on FB when he recognised a suggested friend as part of a cpl from Fab. He was able to see his entire friends list, family pics etc etc. He may not have anything to hide but the point is he is vulnerable to someone with bad intentions taking advantage.

I have never given FB my phone no and its a different email from Fab and I never sync anything so this should never happen to me but then again technology is advancing all the time!

Totally agree with all this, and also with what Fooey said above. I have nothing to hide either, so i don't mind fabbers maybe getting me in their suggested friends list. However, i do value my privacy and that is why i have my Facebook privacy settings as tight as possible. My friends list is visible to only me, apart from if we have mutual friends. I've also locked down my wall, so only me and the person who writes on it will see the comment. That solves anyone writing something inappropriate on my wall. Just because you have nothing to hide doesn't mean you shouldn't protect yourself as much as possible. That way if people do happen on your page, you're in control of just how much they see

But surely that's down to the individual to tighten up their settings on FB?

I mean, it's pretty silly not to, or the whole world has access, not just a few swing friends

This is exactly the way my Facebook is set, and in my opinion the way everyone should have it.

I also never have my face as a profile pic or cover pic.

FB is totally open, to everyone WORLDWIDE! (Default)...

It's up to the individual to change that if he/she wishes to have a certain amount or even complete privacy.

Again, it's down to personal choice.

(As for face pics, the people who have my details already know what I look like, so that's not an issue)

I don't have any fab numbers saved in my phone and I dont use the messenger app but it's happening to me too. In the last week there have been 5 suggested friends that I know from fab.

I don't have anything to hide but my fb and fab lives are very separate and I'd like to keep it that way. The only thing I could think to do was up my fb privacy settings.

Clear all cookies, browsing history etc after each use. It's suggesting fabbers who never had any of my contact details but we are all accesssing the same site. Not just facebook but Linkedin too!!!! There's one person who commented on this thread and recently joined Linkedin who has shown up as a suggested link, also I now know where one female of a couple works and the nature of her work. As far as I'm concerned we don't have to had contact we simply have to have 'similar interests'. Anyone showing on my suggested friends list who does not share facebook friends with me I now think 'oh you're a swinger'.

I've nothing to hide so I don't mind! But it's concerning for discreet cpls and females. I'd really really be concerned for ladies in this site. Like every site there are a fair few mad men on it. The fact a guy could find out a girls name, work place and wherever else from Facebook is not good!
