***BORING THREAD ALERT***

This is Day 18 with No Voice

In my line of work this is disastrous. I need my voice its my main tool. I've tried all the natural remedies etc.

I fear if I go to a doctor-

pay him €60 he'll just say drink honey and lemon.

Thoughts? ?

ehm DTG... you have been without ACTUAL voice for 18 days and you can't properly work - and you haven't been to the doctor yet?

Go to the doctor. If you've already tried all the natural remedies with no success, it's long past time you need a doctor's opinion. And i'd be wary of forcing your voice....you could be damaging your vocal chords. Take care.

right, I'm sure you've found this already, it's on google after all lol:

"If you are a singer or in a profession that requires you to speak a lot, you might be suffering from overuse of your voice muscles.

Rest and moisturizing with a humidifier could help. If you're not, even if you are, see your doctor to rule out other causes and plan a course of treatment."

so your doctor will probably tell you not to talk!!!

Not talking at all for a day actually works. It's hard but it has cured me more than once (suffer with my vocal cords) whispering will make it 200% worse because your actually straining your cords more. Manuka honey, a tight scarf and a wipable white board for a day with no talking might work?

Have you spoken to a pharmacist for any options you've yet to consider?

Manuka honey has high antibacterial properties & actually heals wounds, you can use it on cuts, grazes etc.

Try fizzy cocodamal has to be the fizzy ones. They freeze and relax the vocal cords in the back off your throat. Singers etc take them when having problems. Don't take over the daily recommend dose though. Hope this helps in your case x

The Awkward moment when I rang the doctor there...

Was that not proven to be bullshit and that it's no better than ordinary honey? I'm not 100% on this but I seem to remember reading it somewhere
