My son came home from school the other day with the homework about the British Isles. It asked how many countries there were in the British Isles. Can you answer this without googling it

The British isles are a geographical entity not a political one, therefore they contain the united kingdom of great Britain and northern Ireland and the republic of Ireland.

You got it in one, I had to look it up as I always thought it was Great Britain and Northern Ireland
