Like a tonne of bricks..

I was crossing the road this evening, just as it started to rain, half running to my car. I heard someone behind me say 'hello, can someone help me please. Is there someone here can help me. Anyone, can anyone help me cross the road please'. I turned around to see a blind man who was afraid to cross the road as there was no pedestrian crossing beeping. I obviously went back and helped him across but it hit me like a tonne of bricks. Imagine not being able to cross the road without help. Imagine how debilitated you would be. How many times today did you cross a road unencumbered?

We all think we have problems etc. but holy moses was it put into perspective for me this evening.

Health is wealth & be thankful for all you have, even if it's just something as simple as your eyesight.

Have a good evening fabulous fabbers.

Also, I know this is a bit of a random post, but it's stuff like this that makes the 'Ireland' forum the busiest and most interesting. So even if it's not relevant or of interest to some, I thought I'd throw it out there!

Was delighted to see this post, It just puts life into perspective & all the bitching that goes on from time to time fades into the background. What makes me wonder though is how many had walked past this man before u hepled him which only took a cpl of mins.....

that's the thing, people don't like being stopped on the streets.. they tend to think someone is asking for money and look away.

Always keep your eyes open for people who need help. Nice post, OP

Well done. What you did was heroic and to do 1 good thing to help some person in any day should be rewarding and satisfying.

It's not all about sex and who's scamming who sometimes we need to look around and see the less fortunate than ourselves and a simple thing like a smile may be enough to brighten their day or as in the ops case a pair of eyes to cross the road safetly well done birdy for just grounding us

It makes me think of all the people who aren't so obviously in need of help

The ones who generally just muddle through without complaining or asking for help

They're quite often the ones most in need

If only it was so easy to help them

I encounter people coping with a devastating life limiting illness every day in work. .. They keep me humble. .. whatever we think is difficult they would dream to have that as a problem instead. Life shows us these things to remind us it can change in a heartbeat .... live. .. laugh. .. love. .. We are only here a while
