Xmas drinks charity bucket

by a lake with my rod out

because this is a free event we have decided to have a charity donation bucket where our fellow fabbers can pop in a few coppers and we will donate it to a charity.

so do the fabbers have any idea on what or which charities to donate it to my choice for one would be a dogs life but all suggestions welcome

What a great idea. ...I don't mind. I work for a charity do I know how much every donation counts.

cats. . Dogs...cancer.. whatever I'm happy to contribute with who you choose.

Maybe as the people who have done all the hard work it should be whoever you& lolli would like to support?

I was thinking st Vincent de Paul, I raise money for them every xmas and take part in the xmas present campaign. Also childline have horrific ads on the radio at the mo. Problem with charities is that they are all so deserving and it's hard to pick just one! So as laid said we might split it out between afew

Temple St and Crumlin Childrens hospital. All charities do fantastic work but spending time in these hospitals puts everything else into perspective.

I'm not going but would be glad to support it . . If someone from down this way is going let me know and i'll be good for a few quid. . . Could i also suggest that smaller charities in my opinion are better due to lots of cash getting sidelined for "admin" in the larger ones. .

Will to give to whoever the majority want to give too, although I feel Christmas is all about the kids so think a children's charity would be a good choice. I know NINA is also very close to tunas heart too so would be nice to support a fellow fabber

Children's charities and hospitals are very worthy so will Defo be donating to them.

The svdp xmas present drive is different, you get nominated a child and you get their ages and if they are a bit or a girl and you buy them a santy present. Last year I got three families and got sponsorship from my jobs and got them all their xmas gifts.

The larger charities like concern etc are unfortunately plagued with stories of the admin fees etc

Sure what ever the majority want then we can give too

Crumlin Childrens hospital is an amazing hospital I have been there over past 2 weeks with grandson and come Jan or feb I will be spending a lot of time there so this is a very 2 worthy cause along with NINA

Larger charities do get this label and some of them rightly so of a lot of donations covering admin costs. But it's worth bearing in mind that the bigger the charity and the more reach it has to whoever it is supporting or the more front line staffed services it has the more the cost is tbh.... Sadly volunteers cannot deliver all services people need that need to depend on all year round. All charities figures are open to the public and if you have concerns check them and reassure yourself. As a frontline member for a large charity my job wouldn't exist if it wasn't for donations(mostly from former clients )and my clients would be lost without support coping with a life limiting illness... Please don't write off all bigger charities on this basis alone. ...

having worked as a paid employee for a charity myself, I agree that a lot of the larger charities simply couldn't operate and reach the people that they do without incurring admin costs

There are so many worthy charities out there, and at this time of the year especially they're always lacking in funds! I'm sure no matter what charity/ies that you guys choose will definitely be well worthy.

I suppose my personal opinion would be any of suicide awareness/prevention charities because they do such amazing work and with the lack of mental health resources they're having to take on so much more work, svdp again are another great charity and the like of barnardos temple street or crumlin.

I know I'm not going to this event but I would happily give one of you guys that is going money to put in the box for whatever ya's choose
