Its totally irrelavent if were english or not!You live in a free society! Born from the sacrificies of two past generations who died to give you us the liberity we so freely disrespect.If it was not for the english and the french et all the free world in the last two world wars! There would be no fab for you to ask your question, as you would be living under terrany by a despot german leader.So we for one are not english but still are proud to have desplayed a small symbal of the price of the free speech we all have.......for now.Leave the poppy be fab.When respect is earned! It is due.

So proud of great great gran dad who served in flanders and in the middle east who was mentioned for bravery.Also my great great uncle who was Irish Catholic and served in flanders in ypres but was gassed by the Germans and survived and all my other realtions who served total respect.

It's been adopted as a symbol for all British soldiers who lost their lives in the world wars AND subsequent conflicts, which seems to include those in the North.

So while I have a great-grandfather who never returned from war.... no I would not wear one. I have no objection to the symbol itself being displayed or used by others though.

Cant recall it all now! But it was rather just trying to start a debate, he did not actualy insult the poppy.

Er how you do know he didn't write something positive about it and decided to remove it in case he got a bollocking. One thread about this has disappeared already this morning. I have no problem with the poppy. My great grandfather fought and died in ww1 in a bid for home rule for Ireland.

It wasn't obvious that you were only commenting on its relevance to swinging and I assume (since you felt others shouldn't preach to you) that you wouldn't think that others may view their Swinging seperately from the rest of their lives. I also pointed out that it wasn't only a topic discussed in the Ireland forum. As to divided societies. A lot of wise people have voiced the idea that discussing differences is more beneficial to a mixed community than ignoring issues.
