I see today that government minister Joan Burton our is trying to bring in a law to stop water charge protesters from having mobile phones and recording devices at protests.

I wonder will she be giving out fisher price ones to all concerned coz if she does we could all have a fab phone.

I can't decide though whether to name it the squirter or sploshing phone.

If the quality of water supplied in the future is up to standard why should people get it for nothing?? How many people will be attending the march with bottles of water in their hands that they bought in the corner shop on route to the march.

Water is an essential human right - not a product. This money will line the pockets of investors and shareholders. The property tax went to set up Irish water and pay for consultants fees. Don't think for a minute that what you pay as a water charge will go tiwards improving the infrastructure. What have they done with the Universal Social Charge and Pension levvy ? A fraction.of those charges could have improved the water infrastructure. They now want us to kick up to these corporate scum who are buying up all the world's resources and selling it back to the people. Water is OURS. No-one should be left without water - regardless of their ability to pay. This is still our world. Let's show them that on Saturday.

Thank you. My thoughts exactly. When Nestle has told us we have no right to water, its time to stand up to the bullies!

Just to correct something.. The only shares in Irish Water are 50% owned by Bord Gais (Ervia) and 50% owned by the state. Bord Gais (Ervia)  itself is 97% state owned. (About 3% is owned by employees)

That applies currently...however its been set up for sale at a future date. Regardless of who owns it, very few people will profit financially. This debate will continue for a while. Im not saying our supply doesnt need updating by the way. The money was there but went to pay the IMF. Thats why people are angry.
