I've been watching clips online of The Panel and remembering Monday night (if I remember correctly) giggles.

Aren't we a nation of funny fuckers??

Some great talents were on that show including Dara O'Briain, Ed Byrne, Colm Murphy, Andrew Maxwell And Neil Delamere just to name a few!

Obviously there are more comedians, some less or more famous and familiar than those named above.

Who makes you giggle from this very funny wee island?

Was in the studio audience when that show was recorded. Was even funnier than it was on the tv as a lot of stuff was edited out. They were recorded for near 2 hours for a half hour show. Funny as fuck and Neil delamare was fantastic!

I'm a bit of a comedy anorak (in leopard print, obviously) and I have seen a total gem from Ireland. He wasn't top of the bill, but totally ruled the night in spite of that.

Caimh McDonnell. His day job is MC for the London Irish and he does a fair bit of work on the wireless. However, he is one of the funniest people I've ever seen. His material was great, his timing spot on and the adlibs to the crowd were brilliant. I describe him to my friends as the funniest person I've seen who isn't yet a household name.

It was a programme on Rte kinda like Mock the Week. Fizzled out when Dara O'Briain moved to UK TV full time really. Was great for Ireland at the time and Irish comedy. Think it came off the air around 07/08

I used to watch Mrs Brown's boys after an episode of the Walking Dead just to cheer myself back up, as it was such a depressing show.

I've yet to find anyone funnier than Caimh McDonnell, though.

It's amazing how ahead of it's time it actually was. And what was ment a just satire, turned out to be 100% accurate.

Would love to have seen what Dermot Morgon would have done with the last 7years of Ireland.

I can picture the American version. It would be set in Boston. They wouldn't have a parochial house, but a condo, instead. Harvey Keitel would play Fr Jack, but as fine an actor as Keitel is, he would still be Mr White to 90% of viewers. Fr Dougal would be played by an Hispanic actor, no one famous, but he'd object to playing him as a bit slow and would show him to be really bright. Fr Ted would be a bit of stunt casting. Hugh Grant, because the Yanks saw him in a few films and thought he'd be good for bums on seats. Mrs Doyle is transformed into an elegant gay male who serves canapés. Every episode will attempt to offend no one and as a result will just feature everyone sat around doing nothing and saying nothing.
