Can someone please explain why would you send a friends request when you haven't even spoken to the person first?

My profile sends them out randomly! I see them pop up in my news feed that people have accepted and it's people I've never seen nor spoke to!

I'm sure same people don't do it on Facebook

It's bloody annoying though

I sent out a few friend requests to interesting profiles as I'm new to this and don't really know how to break the ice with a message... Not for perving on pics, but as a way to put myself out there....yes I'm inexperienced, but how else could you get out there if you don't try? Maybe I'm just not worth a shot.... any advice to a newbie would be appreciated...

Sending a friend request without a message is clearly not trying!

Read a person's profile thoroughly and tailor your message to it.

Be ad witty as you can, you gotta stand out.

Stick with the forums - a good way to get yourself known as well as suss out others personalities.

I always ask if I can send a friend request first and that would be after chatting for a while. I don't accept them if they are just sent and like others just leave them there so they can't keep resending then
