.... are swingers their own worst enemy?

After recent events of the Carlow M&G being cancelled because of to much public profile, is it not time we stood up and said who gives a fuck? Ok I know this isn't easy for everyone on here, but it's the secrecy of the swingers lifestyle that leads to others being curious! It's like coming out as gay/lesbian. Once you've admitted to the world there's nothing to hide anymore, giving the media nothing to feed on ?

I'm worried about no one knowing I'm here except my work mates purely for the reason it's not excepted. If anything I think they'd be jealous if they knew lol my family knows I enjoy the lifestyle and accepts it cause it's my choice. I guess the only other concern is kids, but when single parents is now an accepted norm when it wasn't years ago. Why can't it be an accepted norm to want be in an open relationship?

If it wasn't thought of as such a taboo by the people involved and we where proud then the people on the outside may not have such interest and therefore allowing us to enjoy our lifestyle choice without feeling ashamed or embarrassed to show up at a social M&G for fear of being on the front of a newspaper.

Just the thought of a humble man who has had a few beers and feels really sorry for those of the carlow clan who coukdnt re arrange

I'm sure I'll be told I'm talking shit but sure isnt that what it's about, everyone has different opinions

I can't think of one good reason for us to tell anyone other than those that know already. I'm just fine with the way it is personally. Seeing someone's eyes light up when you let them know they've met 'one of them' is priceless.

I agree, just the whole press attention and meet getting ruin because people are ashamed of any attention. I'm not ashamed of my lifestyle, but can understand why couples would be, but really it's nothing to be ashamed of

Think it is and would be much easier for a single guy to be open about swinging, who would give a shit? Single girls to lesser extent but.......

Different story for a married couple with kids, family, friends, neighbours etc etc. That is where the interest is and the stigma is.

I told both of them,

the 1st one is a very cool open minded but a conservative person i told her first and she wants to do it and loves the stories I tell her...

I heard RTE radio 1 going over the papers coming home today and they covered the Carlow MandG.

From what I can gather a jurno saw the thread on here, found the hotel either on here or went around to the hotels snooping, then when they found the hotel they must have asked the hotel for comment and that they were going to be writing a story about it and id say thats why the hotel pulled out.

From what the paper article said, they were making out the the 'hawaii' themed party was told to the hotel under false pretenses.

the paper knew how many people were going. they said that the party was for people to meet up socially and to have a drink and then go to booked rooms to have fun. i was thinking to myself, sher isnt that what happens most weekends in hotels around ireland and the world????

it was that paper and that jurno that got the ball rolling with a story to fill inches in the paper that got it cancelled. they are constantly on the look out for something different to sell papers.

makes you wonder about advertising these kinds of things on the forum considering everyone can view it even if they are not signed up to fabs.
