During one of my many visits to my most dreaded work location I was in a housing estate with a very obvious leaning to one side of the fence.

While signing up a woman who I cajoled into a trial delivery her husband comes to the door and asks "will this be delivered by a (insert religious denomination) or a (insert religious denomination) son"

Yes for a second I'm sure my face paled but my only response could be "which would you prefer sir?"

Gotta give the customer what they want after all. Luckily said man was only joking and I joined him and his wife in busting a gut laughing.

Share your joys of dealing with the public

I have some fantastic clients and my favourite part of my job is dealing with some lovely people, there's a great deal of satisfaction making a client very happy!

1000 times this, at times walking away is hard to do.

Best 'complaint' I ever had was on a returned order.

Boss "customer said she only took it because the salesman was overly persuasive"

Me- confused look "of course I'm persuasive, I'm a salesman"

13 years of working in retail has made me believe that every customer is an asshole and there is no hope whatsoever for human kind.

The rage now quietly bubbles inside but I still smile though

Favourite recent moment was getting a warning (and having it removed) because I burst out laughing when a customer called me a fucktard

It's a great word! Just couldn't help myself, he was mid rant at me when he said it, and I just cried with laughter

Bangor, Norn Iron

Some customers you wonder how they get themselves dressed in the morning..

'Where do you get the tea?'

Me, turning slightly to my left and indicating the display of teabags I'm standing next to, 'Right here madam'.

'Where do I get the trays?'

'Just over there sir, just under the big sign that says trays'

I had a customer a couple of weeks ago who after being offered two pictures which cost £12 to buy for £6 threw £3 at me and started yelling abuse telling me to take the £3 and be fucking grateful for it and to say thankyou to them...I told them it would be £6 and if they didn't want them then they could leave them on the counter and I would put them back....

They continued to be abused and since I was managing the shop that day I thought it would be better to walk away from them and it would defuse the situation and if they came down to give me more abuse I was standing near the door so it would have been easier to chuck them out...

They did give me more abuse but left as they did....last week I found out they sent an email to the regional manager complaining saying that they could not get served by me and I ignored them..

I have the pleasure of frequently dealing with irate customers. I can't keep them all happy and sometimes I have to say no to some of their ridiculous demands. I especially love the ones who ask to speak to someone with proper English as I obviously don't understand what they're saying to me.

The other day a customer complained that a previous employee dealing with them was very abusive to them and because of this he demanded to get free stuff. I listened back to the call and the employee was professional while the customer was calling him a fucking cunt etc etc... I had the pleasure of saying to this customer if he ever speaks to our employees that way again we will close his account with immediate effect and we no longer want his business.
