20% prob not but that would depend on what other conditions where applied. but 20% is a lot to be losing but then again so is 100%

It's a zinger isn't it. Imagine having to make that choice. Seems if it's not accepted as well as 200 redundancies all 1100 jobs go.

A friend of mine works for a business that has slowed down. They were given the option of a 4 day week or somebody has to go. They opted for the former as it's better to have some work or none at all.

Nice that they stuck together, I wonder is it easier ir harder to make that decision in a small company.

A lot of hard thinking needs to be done by the employees of Bausch&Lomb.

A 20% pay cut is huge and each individual has to decide can they live/pat mortgage/school expenses etc on such a big take home decrease.

But what are the alternatives - try find a new job or go on social welfare. Some of the employees interviewed on the news said they'd been there 15+ years and its hard to leave something you've known for so long.

Like I said, not a nice situation to find yourself in and my sympathy to any of those that do

This was a small company, and hopefully things will turn around again for them meaning they have kept skilled workers. I guess in a bigger company the make the decision for you rather than giving the option.
