"not what you think i mr laid never learned to swim iv scuba dived but still cant swim unless i have the tanks. i have a bit of a fear of drowning and cant even float the gym im joining does adult swimming lessons and was wondering if its too late in life to bother to learn or get over my fear ?" Never too late. I can't swim out of my depth yet. (Keep meaning to go learn) The one thing that I found reassuring was learning to float. | |||

" i can stand in water up to my neck but anytime i tried to swim on holidays id get about 15 feet and then panic and end up splashing around till i found my footing | |||

I did a six night course before my holidays last summer. Not hugely successful as I ended up being able to do a breadth only. However it came up trumps in the sea where it's obviously much easier to swim. Still can't swim unless I know my feet can touch sand however.... But I think a healthy fear of the water is a bonus to us anglers mr laid! But age is definitely not a barrier, and the aches in my arms afterwards told me it's damn good exercise ... | |||

Worth a try...ive a family member who started learning in her fifties!!!...i nearly drowned as a child...so im also terrified...i can swim a little but cant keep afloat for long...i started learning in the shallow pool by going underneath the water...would so love to be a strong swimmer.... | |||
