The mentality of those in authority...

Having heard the case of the woman in Midlands receiving litter fine for tearing up canvassing councillors leaflet in front of him on her own property I'm astonished. Not about the fine but the I'll fix you attitude that was portrayed. It's bullying tactics like this that makes me wonder about suitability of those we elect in Ireland. Authority almost seems like a license to abuse and treat people like dirt.

Actually wanting to stand for elections should automatically disqualify you from them : shows an instability somewhere in the mental processes!

and then the politician in question reported her for littering... ooooh cheeky, I'm thinking he may have negatively affected his chances of a few votes there..

We let them do it to us. The system is so corrupt here almost impossible to change.

this is what I read on paper she threw it up in front of him at her door then she picked up what she thought was all and then few pieces went unto the rd and hence the fine what I would like to know how would the council think it was her just cause a councillor was there watching her tear up one

I think it was on a public green area not her own garden. If she purposely littered then good on them. She wanted confrontation, she got it.

I just find them rude when they come to door. I have a dog and the dog was barking and before he handed the leaflet asked me would I mind putting the dog in the garden.

I just grabbed it and shut the door

I'm not so much into the politics of this country as i was being a Londoner because here it really is focused on the tiny pathetic things here

I sadly have to say I no longer vote.

There will be no change till they can leave total no entities behind

But I can't see that happening

How the property tax was brought in with hardly a whimper from the general public astounded me too actually... and water charges etc.

When did Irish people come over so sub I wonder

Cork / limerick / tipp / Clare

Most of the locals no longer call to my door & the ones that do I invite them in make the worst possiable pot of tea & start asking a series of stupid questions & make them explain the answers I usually never see them again after that
