And in that , try and catch Adams out....a very difficult job as past paedophilia cover up case has certainly shown . "I'm quite sure that if there was any evidence at all he'd have been charged back in the days when evidence wasn't quite as important. I don't believe there's any chance of him being charged in relation to it as it would have to be based solely on the evidence of two people who have presumably lied in their statements, thereby rendering their entire statement unreliable. In any case, a story told to a journalist is never going to stand up in court. I'm not one for conspiracy theories, and if they charge him in relation to this case that's one thing, but if they charge him with something like IRA membership I'll be seriously suspicions that the RUC special branch of old is still alive, and still meddling in politics like they did when they caused the collapse of the Stormont government a few years ago with their "spy ring" story. | |||

Have the RUC ever told the truth about the activities of the Glenanne gang? Have we heard the truth about the collusion in the killing of Pat Finucane, for which David Cameron apologised but couldn't say what he was apologising for as it would be detrimental to the security of the state. It cuts both ways. While there's a fear of prosecution we're never going to get the truth. A system is needed where the truth can be told with some sort of protection, and it needs to be done soon or too many people will be too old to be of any help. Personally I believe that the warts and all truth is going to be more productive than prosecutions. | |||

This group of people want this from an elected representation that is not tainted by religion or aged views but by representatives that will want to improve our lives for everyone equally without prejudice. Northern Ireland is tainted by the past. It requires new parties with clear manifestos that benefit everyone. For this to happen...we all need to look in the mirror and ask ourselves, "have you done enough? Have you done anything to help change our lives?" For until we stand up and answer those questions truthfully. We will not progress. Everyone can make a positive difference and stand side by side together for a better future. You might think the truth doesn't matter, and everyone on this site might even agree with you, but I suspect if you check the population at large you'll get a somewhat different response. The thread is still up because it hasn't broken any rules and there hasn't even been a row on it. It's known as debating, and if you can find something you can quote to show that I believe everything that sf/sdlp/ira sa, then I'd love to see it since I haven't quoted any of them at any point. | |||
