"....smoking! It seriously damages your health..... and your sex life! Read some interesting profiles, but the majority seem to say won't meet smokers. We really are social leppers these days! " I would not agree that you are a social leper, it is a choice, unfortunate that some people refuse to meet smokers. I am not a smoker, did that in my teens, but I would not meet someone just because she smokes. Granted kissing sometimes might have a slight taste but most smokers chew gum and use mouth wash so the taste is diluted, and I can always kiss her elsewhere lol

" giving up smoking would be a plus side for your health, but do it because of your health. Look at the profiles that say won't meet smokers, i guarantee some of them are verified by smokers

The cigarette companies didnt hand me a fag n tell me to smoke it.

There's no option to choose "won't meet drinkers" " I know, my point entirely, as if there was, no one would click it, as 95% of people probably are drinkers. Excessive drinkers can harm or kill others (car accidents, losing the plot, arguments leading to violence), smokers cause damage to themselves. Which is worse? I think we all know the answer to that. I hate kissing someone who has just downed beer

"The only reason i would prefer not to meet smokers is cos when you kiss them you can taste the fags, not very nice in my opinion " I can understand why people have it on their profile, it's just frustrating when you read a decent profile with it on and it rules you out straight away. As said it's our choice as it is a non smokers choice not to meet a smoker

"Sorry no it is vile that's just what I think ! I would not describe it in that strong a term, but everyone has their own opinion " I quit for nearly six years and started again last year. Right now I'm an occasional smoker. I can go all day, a few days even, then fancy one and so light up However I know what I smell and taste like to non smokers so I try to be as considerate to others as I can. I don't smoke once I'm showered and changed for a meet and as my home is smoke free I hope my clothes don't smell I also prefer not to meet at the home if a smoker if they smoke in the house. Even if they don't light up, the smell of smoke is everywhere and gets into everything. I won't even stay over night at my own daughters house because the smell if stale smoke everywhere turns me I'm working hard on quitting completely again and hope to nail it over the holidays Well done all those that have quit and stayed off them, you have my respect

The responsibility and choice to smoke lies with the individual. More often than not ppl start smoking when they are immature and want to look cool or grown up.

I understand your point, but the same can be said of alcohol, yet no one discriminates against drinkers. Kissing someone who has just downed wine or beer, to me, can be unpleasant, yet there is no option not to meet drinkers. I am just adding some balance here, as a non drinker, and have never drank in my life, If I was to say I would never meet a drinker, I would meet very very few!

Probably not. I really didn't want to be the kind of person who hated the smell, after all I stank the place out for 30 years But it's happened that I now can not stand the smell, even though I take the occasional smoke myself I think we have to respect people choices and choose for ourselves what we are happy to accept

"I started the thread just to highlight exactly that, it just shows everyone has their own preferences and it can be your own choices that rule you out of potential meets " is amazing also how many say no smokers only, that then kinda change their minds! We both smoke, never been refused a meet because of it.. Ever!! Respect those that don't , and dislike it.. But we do, and like it! Lol

"It is possible to drink responsibly. The same cannot be said of smoking. I have nothing against smokers, but it's an all pervasive smell. What is your definition of responsible? How many cigarettes do you deem as responsible? How much alcohol do you deem responsible? Every one has different tolerances!! Drinkers can harm others, so which is worse? I hate the smell of stale alcohol off a person, as I do cigarettes, so which is worse? Depends on your point of view I guess Er.. Cigarettes damage your health. There is no safe amount to smoke without having negative effects on your health. There are safe amounts of alcohol. What are the safe amounts of alcohol? I would love to know! As I said everyone has different tolerance levels for alcohol. No one goes by recommended amounts, anyone who thinks so, is fooling themselves. Can you honestly say you know people who abide by the "rules" as laid out by YEARS of studies! It may happen in a tiny minority, but, believe me, the majority of people drink in excess of the "recommended" weekly amounts!!!

The question was , what is the safe limits for alcohol? If someone chooses to abuse that that's their decision. The WHO have said these are the safe amounts. More then that you are going to harm your body And I'm glad to hear you have done so much study into alcohol abuse( your comment believe me the majority of people drink in excess )perhaps you can send me a link to your studies? Or do you mean that you personally believe most people drink to excess but you have no facts or figures to back up this argument?

I have no idea what that means, but they're called "guidelines" for a reason. They're a guide, not a rule.
