Hello All

I'm seriously thinking about visiting Ireland for a week in June and wonder if anybody could help.

I'm not looking for any sexy play etc.. just wondered if you splendid Irish people on here could recommend somewhere which isn't too far from an airport, has lovely scenery ,culture and safe (as safe as things are anywhere) for a lone woman visiting therefore would need good access to village/town centre, cafes, restaurants etc..

I don't want somewhere too insular as, although born and bred in England, I am Latin and so would rather try and avoid any prolific hostility.

Any help would be appreciated

Not sure what u mean by prolific hostility but I recommend Wicklow.. South of Dublin full of amazing scenery and some great villages. Not far from the city but yet still isolated and free from big city life

Why dont u try Wexford the sunny south east. Great beaches, cafes, clubs, pubs and scenery. They have the best strawberries

Well I'd say Belfast has changed alot from what it was.

But if it's scenery then the mourne mountains are hard to beat and plenty of towns around them. Just depends on what your after.

Well I'd say Belfast has changed alot from what it was.

+1 look at Newcastle Co Down to stay, Tullymore forest park is one of my favourite places on earth and I've been a few, if you wanna walk further do spelga damm or go further, the hotels Re good too, sleeve donard etc

Come to sunny Bangor by the sea, its full of chavs and seagulls

actually somewhere near the mournes or Donegal, beautiful scenery

I'm in Kerry. The south west. But u prob need a car to make the most of it. Although there is the dingle shuttle from airport to dingle. Bus to Killarney etc.

What not try Kerry and cork you could fly into Kerry airport, then you could visit all the little villages along the coast between there and Cork airport, there is lots to be seen along the way including Killarney which is a great place for a night on the town.

Where ever u choose you will gave a great time in Ireland.

Has to be Galway ....stay in the city and take day trips from there to connemara mayo and Clare ....paddywagon do great tours and you would probably meet some ppl to spend the evening with rather then going it alone all the time.....I would be very surprised if you met with any hostility as this is a very busy tourist area.....enjoy!

Apologies,my geography isn't the best and yes he did always refer to the place as Derry

Thank you everybody for taking the time to respond either on the forums or privately. The West,in particular Galway has been highly recommended hence I'm going to look into it a little more and go from there.

Yes the west coast is fab, and as a bonus! You could take in Irelands only swingers club I-KANDI in Limerick too!! Also reccommend Bunratty Castle, lahinch, and the burren! If driving, and if not, definately consider hiring car! As public transport is either not existant OR rather painfully slow & inefficient.

Yes looks like I can fly directly into Shannon from Manchester which isn't far from Leeds, easier than Leeds to Dublin and then traveling over to the West Coast

Derry is also a great shout, ifs close to the giants causeway, Donegal which has amazing scenery and beaches but the weather isn't always the hottest! And most importantly the Derry girls are the hottest in Ireland, fact

If its archeology u seek check out www.duchasnasionna for the Clare area flying into Shannon traveling to Galway the area is littered with castles,ring,forts,burial sites and the unique landscape of the burden however a car is a must to meander around the roads of this beautiful place

plus u never know u may find a auld lad to make it a happy swinging archeological exploration

Thanks all. I've certainly realised a car is a must so I'll need to factor that in, also been told about an airport called Knock where I can fly directly into from Leeds

Re the weather in June,- I'll keep my fingers crossed but then the North of England never gets the best weather either

Waterford, Oldest city in Ireland , steeped in history and has its own airport only 10mins from the city although iam not sure if they do flights to and from the uk anymore

One hours drive from Dublin Airport you will find the beautiful Cooley mountains with the most scenic village and lough in Ireland called Carlingford, home off Ferdia and Cuchullian. On the the other side of the lough is the stunning mountains of Mourne.

If you are looking for somewhere to stay when in dublin, malahide is well worth thinking about.

its ten minutes from the airport.

It has loads of restaurants and bars but its best quality is it still has a village feel about it.

Ireland has some many great places to visit.
