"The main worry with sky is they tend to turn amateur sports into professional.i.e rugby + cricket and they turned league football into one of the greediest money driven corporations in the world." Is that a bad thing?? Wouldn't all these players rather be paid well for doing the thing they love most?

"The main worry with sky is they tend to turn amateur sports into professional.i.e rugby + cricket and they turned league football into one of the greediest money driven corporations in the world." Just since cricket started becoming professional in the 1920's and Rugby after the 1987 world cup, what ever Sky's faults, it's not really their fault. IMO professional rugby is better viewing than amateur.

"Would you not say they've done a good job with the Premiership though? They have proven they can drive football forwards." Not at all tbh. They have taken a working man's sport and turned it into a business. Overpaid pansies who cry that 100,000 quid a week just isn't enough and nobody plays for the club any longer, they play for money. Players leave boyhood clubs to play for the bigshots, players hold clubs to ransom for a pay rise on already stupid qmounts of money. Its like a feckin soap opera

You can't eat you're own glory days. Seriously? If I'm generating 10k a week in revenue, I want a 2k. Over 50 million a year? Yeah I'll have 300k a week no problem.

Not a working man's sport? It was big business long before Sky got near it. If it wasn't for Sky pumping billions into the game English football wouldn't be one of the greatest leagues in the world.

"Why is it still amateur in this day & age? So the GAA must rake in huge revenue from sponsors, are the tickets for the matches subsidised to fill the grounds?" they give money back to the grassroots and employ coaches for kids.

The main advantage is that the emigrants willhave better access, and given the level of emigration in the last few years, that has to be a positive thing.

Its not, back on the day Harry Redknap would go for a pint with supporters, chat to them. Can't really see Rooney down the local with the united faithful. Yes footballers were always paid more than average but how the hell do they deserve more than surgeons and soldiers? Lmfao, the premier league isn't the best league in europe let alone the world. The standard of football is poor, hence why german and spanish teams destroy english teams egularly. The best 2 players in the world ply their trade in spain. Best league in the world would produce world beating players, given that spain are world cup holders with a team of players that play in spain i'd say english league is third... Maybe

As I doubt you have first hand knowledge of 'arry going for a pint with anyone I'll put that with the rest of your assumptions & conclude you don't really know enough about it to continue this little chat so thank you for your input & any info on the GAA/Sky deal you could offer would be interesting.

Nope buti know and heard enough about footie from my elders to know this is true of older footballers. Assume makes an ass of you and me, i assume nothing
