The tone has changed completely, the later is darker, and reflects a full lives experience, a stark contrast, and its true to the song title, "Both Sides Now", a lament of someone who has lived and learned over the course of a lifetime.

I'm not mulling over meaning, I'm pointing out a comparison. A cover version should reflect phases in life.

both versions so beautiful!! I prefer the more recent one. Always reminds me of the beautifully acted scene in Love Actually by Emma Thompson.
