Nudist Colonies

Just popped into my head about these sorta places.

I remember working in southern france in 2008 and getting into a bantering conversation amongst friends and the bar man, about nudist beaches and camps etc and he went online and searched for local ones.

Within 200kms there was between 30-50 different locations. So that lead to the obvious belief that the french are into it in a big way.

What about people here?? Are they into it? Have they been to one? If so whats it like!?

Obviously a beach is outta the question in Ireland as you would shrivel up and die with the cold!! Lol

I've been to a nude beach here regular for the last 3 years. Once the weather warms up I'll be back using it. After a few minutes u get used to being in the air and it's very liberating

We really need to look at this issue seriously.

Firstly no one calls them Nudist colonies anymore. That is a term long gone. They are called naturist beaches or clothing optional beaches or areas. W

We are a little surprised that Mrfrst a young 27 year old would used an antiquated term like that.

Anyway The position regarding clothing optional beaches in Ireland is that they are forbidden by law. Sadly and shamefully we are the only country in the whole of Europe where if you sunbathe in the nude on a sunny day on a beach you could be charged with a criminal offence. You can even be put on a sex offenders regester if found guilty.

The reason for this is historical and blame rests squarely on the catholic church who governed the "morals" of the country with an iron fist in collusion with our lilly livered politicians of the past.

But thing are changing thankfully. And now there are maybe 6 naturist tolerated beaches in the south where a person can enjoy the naturist lifestyle in some degree of safety.

To the idea that it is always too cold in Ireland to allow naturism we say that is simply not true. Even last summer we enjoyed naturism on Donabate Beach throughout the summer.

So to all those Irish Naturists who go naked on beaches on the continent we suggest you also go nude on Irish naturist tolerated beaches too. There are plenty of great warm days when naturism can be enjoyed to the fullest in Ireland. As practicing naturist we can say there is nothing so nice as walking naked with the sun shining on your body and especially with the one you love all naked hand in hand by your side.

It is increasingly encountered and to help drag Ireland into the modern tolerating society it just takes Irish naturists to actually be naturists on our beaches.

For a list of these Naturist tolerated beached in Ireland google the irish naturist association.

regards RNR

Ah curvy cat it was not that bad. We were just a little surprised at the term.

But what about the rest of it?

Should Irish people who are naturists abroad also be naturists at home too on home beaches where tolerated? That would do so much to help make naturism legal here in Ireland and drag us int the 21st century. Not to mention help with tourism.

We have been naked on it a good few times. It's a really lovely beach backed by the dunes. you can walk all along the beach and explore the rock pools on the far right as you enter. really nice But ya got to look out for the horses though.

Wonder what makes us so different from our European conterparts? Naturism is enjoyed and practiced widely on the continental beaches.

Wonder why we should be so different?

The point is that people in Ireland who would love to enjoy naturism legally and safely are forced by our conservative and backward laws not to.

As we say the only sodden country in Europe that treats naturists in this fashion. Shame really.

In and around

Naturism is a fantastic way of life, we are naturists and love the freedom it gives us, we bought a place in Spain 7 years ago in a Naturist Zone where we can be naked 24/7 the area is a hour from Almeria and Murcia called Vera Playa.

Don't get naturism mixed up with swinging though, yes some swing but no more than textile couples. PM if you would like to know more about the lifestyle. Oh yes be warned perving on the beach if very much frowned upon, the police patrol all the time in the summer.

Doesn't that just show the difference between here and the continent! Here, the naturists on the beach risk arrest and on the continent they are protected from pervs by the police!

As mentioned above, DON'T mistake naturists for swingers. Many hardcore naturists in Cap d'Agde in France (40,000 there in summer, not joking) don't like their resort turning into an evening swingers resort and have even burnt down some of the swingers clubs. Not sure what the firemen were wearing, lol.

Malton area

When back home in Co.Wicklow we use the beach between Brittas and Arklow - by the very large sand-dune.

(As to being too cold - tell that to the thousands of textile holiday makers in skimpy bikinis etc who throng their beaches on sunny days).

The comments as to confusing nudists with swingers is all too true - a lot of the former are so prudish that one wonders how they ever got to procreate......

we too frequent the nudist/naturist resort of vera playa, and go there every year. whilst we enjoy the naturist quality of the resort the swinging thing is only in the minute periphery and is mostly frowned upon by naturists. naturism is not only confined to the sunnier resorts and if you should look into naturism in general it is practiced in most countries with probably the exception of mid eastern and religious zealot countries. its even practiced in extreme nordic countries so the argument about the cold does not hold nor does the innuendo that guys get erections, in the event of that happening a guy just lays belly down on his towel and awaits for it to diminish. in the 8 years that we have been naturists we have never seen a man aroused with the exception of cap d agde where it is more a sexually orientated resort and not for the feint hearted .if you are so interested in "nudist colonies" as you say why not give it a try or even go to a naturist swim held each month. google irishnaturism.org for info. dont knock till you try it twice!

The only problem is the weather! Here in Cap D'Agde there is a lovely beach, clothes free resort 24/7, however on an evening it's liberated, ladies dress to impress, and of course swinging! Down the road is Serignan, a naturist beach for non swingers. Hope this is useful info. Enjoy - today is sunny blue sky & 15c

Belfast

We go every year to a beautiful beach/resort in sth France, quite near Perpignan.

We wouldn't go back to a "normal" beach.....

Besides, the Cap is only an hour away on the motorway,,,
