Hi all fems out there , i was wondering if the Mirena Coil was any good as i had to come off the Pill due to high blood pressure , my concern as a swinger would be , as i love very hard deep penetration sex , would the coil move or come out due to deep sex or am i better to go with something else , this is a question i couldnt ask my gp

I have had it now coming on 8 yrs, I personally never had a problem with it and certainly not during sex.

I think every1 is different tho and the only way to find out is try it for urself.

I wldnt go for any other option myself.

no i havnt asked about the implant cause of my age , my daughter had it in and went from a size 10 to a size 16 in a few months so after she got it out she is gainging her old figure back and is a size 12 already so not sure if thats an option for me , im a big enough girl as it is lol

must look more into it but getting lots of feedback

Yep, absolotuly not blowing trumpets but been with women fitted with these and I'm going to say they probably/can't of been fitted correctly ( common problem?) as I hit them. Let me tell you 1st time I dine it was a shocking experience. Never heard of a coil. Stuck me cock in and got me helmet stabbed!! I was like WTF you got up there women.. Been using Mirena for almost 12 years now and I've never had any issues with it- regardless of how rigourous my sexual activity may be

My advice would be to get it fitted by someone who has lots of experience in this area.... Sometimes that's not your local gp.

I have it in nowa year and have nothing but problems with it. I wouldnt get it again if giving the option. The doctor is very relucu to take it out. Which is a pain. The side affects with it is not worth it.

I've had one for six years now with no problems whatsoever and MASSIVE benefits. If the strings cause irritation to a partner just have them trimmed.

When I first had the Mirena fitted I was well on my way to a hysterectomy....due to heavy persistent bleeding which interfered hugely with my sex life as well as my social life. When it was suggested by my gp (who is an absolute expert) I was reluctant but the alternative was worse. I'm so glad I made the decision to go ahead.

I've had the mirena for too many years to remember

Yes they are not comfortable to insert or remove

Yes you will suffer cramps for anything from 48 hrs to 3/4 months after insertion

You may be blessed with no more periods

You may get unlucky and bleed for 6 months or so before you settle down

You will be very lucky and get an increased sex drive

A lot of partners will feel the threads- go back and get them cut

I had one coil dislodge because of rigorous sex, but that's cos I was going hammer and tong within 24hrs of insertion, I think they suggest 7 days or something

Try it, and give it time to settle. I think most gps and clinics insist you keep it for six months before giving up. I've been very happy with mine and am looking forward to getting a replacement this year, even though I need a hospital visit to get mine fitted ( I'm complicated in my old age, GP used to be able to do it no bother)

In fairness ive never seen anyone with a massive lump, actually ive never seen anyone with anything other than a smooth insert, just a shadow where its resting.

Scars i have seen but are only a few mm imo, of course some peoplw will scar more.

And again any women i was with who had it were just as mad as the rest of ye without it

Again i'm only stating an opinion - I have with most LT gf's discussed the pros and cons of differing types of Contraception with them, finding out which was best for each. If you didnt find the implant suited you, fine! But dont tell me I aint got a clue.

I have had a coil in for five years and had no problems with it. It is tiny and is well out of the way and as I have had various different sized cocks in me none have ever felt it, but I have had two kids and maybe that is the reason. I have not had a period in four and half years and it has been great. The reason I was told to get it was because I was loosening a lot of blood each period approx two pints and had passed out from it. I have never looked back and plan to get it replaced in March. But everyone is different good luck

As already answered by previous ladies, the mirena is inserted well into your uterus - sex, however vigorous, shouldn't penetrate the cervix. So a partner won't come in contact with the coil itself. If they feel anything it'll be the threads but they usually lie against the wall of the vagina and can't be felt. my GP advised a quick visit to get them trimmed is no issue. She also explained how to feel for them to ensure the coil is still in place, so that can provide reassurance.

When I went for my second mirena none of the GPs in the surgery fitted them, and they arranged for me to visit another local practice so it was nice to know I was in experienced and knowledgable hands. So to answer your question, sex shouldn't be an issue. It's also a good, reliable contraceptive. The hormones are a tiny amount compared to the pill, implant etc.

The big issue for most women I know who love it or hate it is how well it controls their bleeding. Most find after a few months they have no periods, or maybe 1 day every month or so. What's not to love?

The flip side is the women who experience constant bleeding for up to six months before the doc decides you've given it a fair go and agrees to remove it.

There's also a risk of ectopic or molar pregnancy - it's rare but something to consider, there are side effects to any medical treatment.

You probably won't know til you try. The contraception that suits us all best is very personal. Bit of trial and error I guess. Good luck x

Are men more flipent when it comes to contraception as possibly it down to the woman. Im not talking bout wearing condoms to prevent Std; I mean in a long term relationship where unwanted pregnancy could occur inthink men should have full knowledge of contraception my last relationship he had no clue apart from condoms and the pill and some women the pill is not an option..so do you guys really know what's available. .

no huge lumps I have seen on anyone's arm that I know who have slight insertion to get removed nothing drastic at all

looking st someone arm you would not know they had the implant what's so ever.

also something else you should know that they dont tell you is because it has a high dose of estrogen the amount of daily discharge increases to a very annoying amount.i bled for 10 months and then had to be refared to gyne. it is inserted way past the cervix so the more you have dialated in labour the easier it is ti insert

Although the is true in some respect...most of the hormones released stay within the uterus....and the levels released lesson every year..while still being effective... In other words Mrs.. I was craziest on the pill!!!!! This has helped my moods and the Mr..grateful

Myself and a friend of mine both had the coil fitted it's done it's job in regarding we both have no babies but both found we put on some weight, we both went to our gp to get it out obviously at separate times lol both of us have to go to hospital to get it out as gp couldn't, she got hers out three weeks ago which was painless enough and lost 6 pounds already, my hospital appointment is next week, again everyone's experience is different , hope this is of some help xx
