Sarcastic attitudes and replies on here

I am involved in the scene for a good numbers of years but mainly use another site to organise meets etc. I do pop in here now and then to read the forums and sometimes check out chat. While chat seems to be fine and well moderated the forums leave a lot to be desired. There seems to be an attitude that posts are open to be ridiculed and taken the piss out of. Now there are both couples and singles involved in this from what I can see. The scene contains many different people with different levels of experience different kinks and differing personalities. The one thing we all have in common is we were all newbies once. I dont think its helpful for people to take the piss out of forum posts here no matter what the content. Fair enough if the people posting know each other and are mates but if someone comes on here with a question, no matter how idiotic you think it is, they deserve a bit of respect. If you have nothing to add guess what your probably better off to say nothing at all. The latest example of this I have seen is a guy asking about dogging signals. the majority of replies are taking the piss and slagging the guy off. In any community or lifestyle I think this behaviour is bang out of order and the people making these comments on other sites are generally reprimanded. I dont care how many meets you have had, how hot or not you are etc could people think about what they are saying. Have a bit of common decency people. Its happening a lot on here and really it gives off a very unpleasant and unwelcoming vibe. If you find a post silly or idiotic ignore it simple. Theres no need to reply with a smart comment trying to impress your cyber mates on here and trying to outdo each other in the snaky reply stakes. Swingning first and foremost should be fun FOR EVERYONE if they or their kinks arent your cup of tea you should just jog on and leave them at it. Rant over and happy new year yo ye all....

I commented on that thread but no harm was meant at all, just thought it was funny what someone else had said, I never really comment on the forums much either these days for various reasons and will take this into account , I am in no way a cyber bully or have 'cyber mates' , have a happy new year yourself x

Got the name from a nick cave book. im nothing like the character though not trying to be too negative but if someone comes on looking to explore their fantasies no matter what they are they deserve to do so without being made to feel silly or odd. When someone replies to a thread sarcastically or whatever it tends to have a snowball effect and sidetrack the original purpose of the thread. Just asking people to think before they post a little more. There are plenty of funny jokey threads on here to display your oscar wilde-esque wits without having to belittle others thoughts kinks etc. Il admit I have read threads before and thought wtf but so be it its not my place to judge .

if you cant ask questions about the scene here where can you?. i have noticed it before i posted that there are egomaniacs here who try to evoke a negative response to a thread for what ever kicks. as you rightly said if people dont have construtive comments positive or negitive why bother getting involved. but i must say i got a great response in private messages . happy new year one and all

So glad you posted this. That's exactly what I think. I have now reached the point where I check and recheck what I have said just so I can make sure I don't offend someone or somebody reads wrongly into what I have commented on. There are some really rude people on here that think they are better than everyone else.

Dublin/Carlow

This is by far the best post we've seen on this site. We honestly could not believe the amount of sarcasm in the majority of threads here. It's usually from the same small number of people too. The ones who try to control the room.

We've seen this before on other sites. Someone, in most cases, a single guy posts a question and is then ridiculed. It then becomes a game of who can ridicule the best.

Why shouldn't he be allowed to ask about dogging as it's a particular sexual act that a lot of people enjoy.

Anyway we're here primarily to swing and we are having a ball so we won't lose sleep. As the OP said, if no valid contribution to make, then don't make any.

Congratulations to you Sir and a happy new year to all on here xxxx

I'm glad this has been posted. I've been a bit guilty of sarcasm myself, but having lurked on the forum a bit i decided to dive in and it was either swim or drown.

Hopefully people will take the serious topics a bit more seriously from now on, and keep the piss taking to the joke threads.

Although no matter the topic, if you use text speak i will rip the piss out of you.

I always look on the brightside;-) was a little annoyed earlier seeing another thread derailed is all. Not a regular contributor to forums here by any means but I do check in and I dont like to see peoples threads judged or ridiculed no matter what the content. If I start a thread with the serious intent of fulfilling some weird kink id feel faily sad if people just took the piss.id much rather if the thread was left to fade away.

Saying that happy new year to all you crazy sexy people of fab keep on swinging and enjoy the celebrations I know I will .;-)

Well written bunny. It doesn't really matter if you've been on here for a long time or not, you made a very valid point. A point which is valid for every online community. I tend to be sarcastic myself but I try to not get involved in the hijacking of threads or putting someone down 'in a nice way'. I'm sure I have done it though.

Thanks for reminding me to be more careful because I remember when I created my first forum post a few years ago I was ripped apart and ridiculed by forumites, which was an awful experience.

Let's all look out for each other more, because who else will, it's a small community!

Have tried not to comment on this as i know i do join in at times and have being guilty of what u call hyjacking which is not something that is planned or set out out as bulling it seems to follow the natural flow of conversation

the thread of which u refer to while there was some messing there was also some guidelines given which keep the balance how ever if u post be aware that there is always the chance of some one taking the piss but on a whole serious threads are kept serious and if they do meander a little they usually get a fair response

as for this thread the proof is in the pudding so to speak what has jumped out is that there is a lot of people taking the high ground but yet they don't seem to post until only when someone starts a thread like this which is needed to bring a bit of perspective to the fourms now and again

as for regular posters yes they get a feel for each other and do tend to mess with each other and sometimes it may look like its a clique (which does not exist in Ireland fourms) if some of u fence climbers were to join in the convos this may not happen as much as u percive

the fourms is a place like a pub u walk in u can sit on ur own and be judgemental staying quiet watching the other people around u have a laugh or join in the convo where u will find some like to have a serious chat while others have fun on the perfories

Contribute very little if anything at all when threads are positive/cheery

But that's real life I'm afraid. There will always be the few who enjoy trying to stir things up and cause trouble for others.

They think they can get away with it and don't like it when they are called on it.

But I'm all for getting along and in the spirit of good will, I'm even happy to share my cake (if you've been in the Scotland forum you'll know that's a BIG deal )

"Have tried not to comment on this as i know i do join in at times and have being guilty of what u call highjacking which is not something that is planned or set out out as bulling it seems to follow the natural flow of conversation

the thread of which u refer to while there was some messing there was also some guidelines given which keep the balance how ever if u post be aware that there is always the chance of some one taking the piss but on a whole serious threads are kept serious and if they do meander a little they usually get a fair response

as for this thread the proof is in the pudding so to speak what has jumped out is that there is a lot of people taking the high ground but yet they don't seem to post until only when someone starts a thread like this which is needed to bring a bit of perspective to the fourms now and again

as for regular posters yes they get a feel for each other and do tend to mess with each other and sometimes it may look like its a clique (which does not exist in Ireland fourms) if some of u fence climbers were to join in the convos this may not happen as much as u percive

the fourms is a place like a pub u walk in u can sit on ur own and be judgemental staying quiet watching the other people around u have a laugh or join in the convo where u will find some like to have a serious chat while others have fun on the perfories

fook this is to serious for new years day

stay safe have fun and join in u might enjoy ur selfs very well said cj......but there is a click....."

i don't agree jack there is a group of regular posters and not so regular poster who rip each other as much as they do a first time poster

to me a click or clique is a group of people who exclude others not to their liking there have being tons who have cum on fourms and introduced them self's and got a good reception others that have posted look at me threads have being ripped this is true and i have being part of that but there is not a crowd that want to control the fourm

"I am involved in the scene for a good numbers of years but mainly use another site to organise meets etc. I don't think anyone is moaning about a bit of banter or people disagreeing with someone's point of view. But some people are really rude. I saw a post the other day where someone asked a simple question and another member called them a twat. I have seen similar. It's not nice to read never mind to receive it.

i totally agree with u there is no place for that but there also posters pm people and abusing people for expressing their view which i don't think has any place but it seems the banter and crack crowd are taking a lot of heat for those that are set on abusing on an open fourm to bully and belittle genuine peeps do u not agree

It's not a crime to be witty or make people laugh infact I think it's one of my personality traits..... So I think some funny scarcasim should be welcome on the forum. Everyone has different personality just as they have different sexual preferences and I feel the site is about making friends as much as having sex.

If there was no scarcasim, banter,Craic then this site would not exist.

With regards to a person asking a genuine question I'm sure he/she got genuine answers to help with the dogging question.

As long as the smart arse comments and scarcasim was not aimed at the poster of the question as they were not slagged off or made fun of for asking a question I have no issue.

First off it was me who posted the message on the dogging signals post.....it was done in a non-malicious way with no intent to cause harm or insult.

Its called having a sense of humour and in the context of the Ireland forums it fits the general banter and camaraderie on there.I find that the forumites generally moderate ourselves far better than anyone as anyone stepping out of line generally gets told it.If i did inadvertantly cross the line i apologise to the OP.

I think that if you were a regular poster/reader on the forum you would have got a better feel for the mood of the various threads rather than "i do pop in here now and then".

Where i do agree with you in certain areas of your theme that we all want to feel we can post what we like without fear of ridicule or abuse i feel that all regular forum posters would and do want that as a given.I do feel that you are being a tad judgemental about us by implying anything but.... my impression of the forums are framed and written and read with a sense of humour...therefore i dont read too much into any replies.

Your presumption of a forum click is wrong inho too....there is just a core of members here who choose to use it more often than others...(we occasionally go into chat and there is a core of members who use than more than most but we dont high-tail it out of there citing clicks and dark deeds afoot)Plus on the issue of chat i have seen far worse there than on the forum.I resent your plea to us to "have a bit of common decency people" as there is none lacking in the forums and i and other forum users here would be quick to educate any transgressor. As for your comment that we are "trying to impress our cybermates on here and trying to outdo each other" that is the nature of good hearted good natured and well intentioned banter

I too wish you a Happy new year and welcome you to the forums more often this year.. take a deep breath jump in and give as good as you get. That is the nature of the beast...

That is the nature of the beast..."

that is the beast all right....... And in its own free way.....it is a truely beautiful beast.......

Very well put indeed.......

"I am involved in the scene for a good numbers of years but mainly use another site to organise meets etc. "

Yes it is, but it's right. It's the same in the Scotland forum too. There are regular posters who have a laugh and take the piss out of each other mercilessly and then there are the irregular posters who complain its a clique - mostly because they get ignored for posting stupid things that are designed to try and force conflict or don't have a thick enough skin to laugh it off and give it back to the other posters.

It is almost impossible for the regular posters to overstep the mark with other regulars. It it seems to be a constant thing for irregular posters to complain.

There is no real answer to this except, grow a thicker skin, post more and give back as good as you get in a lighthearted way - and within the forum rules obviously

Well said. Egomaniacs. A word I would use also.
