I was communicating with a guy on here who didn't make any sense. I got really annoyed and frustrated and gave out to him. He then told me he was dyslexic. Talking about being embarrassed for being a intolerant cow!

Dont feel bad, He probably wasn't dyslexic at all. Dyslexia is the go to excuse for the lazy, which diminishes it for those with actual dyslexia. I see it all the time on other message boards that ban text speak. Case in point: on another forum someone got given out to for using text speak and they defended themselves by claiming dyslexia. They were then told that their posting style does not correspond with dyslexia and to cop themselves on.

So, sadly, if someone shouts dyslexia i'm very sceptical.

My take on it is: be it smartphone or laptop you have all 26 letters at your fingertips...fucking use them!

agree totally. On lots of things I have seen people use excuses. Those who genuinely suffer from an illness or disability don't use it as an excuse. They get on with their lives and it's morons who use labels as an excuse.

It's pretty simple for me, I couldn't give a hoot whether someone can spell or not, this site for me is based on being able to communicate, if I get a messages that reads like gobbledegook and another that is easy to read and I like what they have to say then I'm more likely to respond to them, basic process of elimination, messages are a good initial insight into a person so makes it easy to out who I want to meet and who I don't, be they drop dead gorgeous or not, looks are useless if they can barely form a sentence, sex is all in the mind as far as I'm concerned. That doesn't make me a grammar nazi, it means I have preferences.

I rather give someone the benefit of the doubt than the other way around. Call me naive or too nice. There are regular posters on the forum who don't spell very well and I haven't seen anyone calling them lazy! Why? Probably because you got to know them and they're quite hot, so in those cases it seems to be overlooked?!

Don't get me wrong, I still prefer good grammar and punctuation and it makes a good first impression. But if the context is excellent, why missing out talking to a possible great person? Now it's rare that a message in text speech is so good that I have replied but I have once asked a guy to stop the text speech and he did! He wasn't aware how annoying it can be for some.
