Just heard a survey saying men very seldom talk to there partners or wives about problems they have . whats guys reasons for not discusing things with there partner, and from a guys point of view do u think ur partner or wife could do more to make u talk? i no from my point of view what ever problem i have during the day is discussed with my partner straight away, was not the case in my previous relationship.

Communication is the key. Good or bad. EVERY couple I know that has split up/divorced has said it was because they couldn't/wouldn't talk to their other half about issues that arose over the years.

Its just how many Irish males are.

Think a big issue is not wanting to worry others with their problems as the man is suppose to be seen as the strong one in a relationship/family.

I dont think miscommunication is solely confined to Irish people, think it applies to any breakdown

I have a ex now that me both never really discussed any major issues I have to say now

he would often come to me with problems.

men find it hard in general to talk bout things even feelings and emotions.

Some find it hsrd to cry too but I think it shows a man to be a man to shed a fews tears .

I'm single and talk to myself frequently. I'm such a great listener, not so good with the unbiased advice though

"Wah, wah wah! Sob, has, sob, anyone got, sob, a tissue? "

that's a reason men don't talk, we pull the piss until the person shuts up.

Sorry, I'm thinking you misunderstood me. That was me trying to be manly by crying

If we take anything from this post it should be that we should talk to our partners, not talking only creates problems and lets face it there is enough problems in life trying to work them as a cpl without trying to work through them on our own

Agreed. There was fairly good communication in my previous relationship but it still failed for a number of other reasons. With my current partner I try to talk out every problem as it arises, which she's not used to a man wanting to do so there are still a few "I'm fine" moments.

"Sign of weakness or loss of control"

And in my opinion, an outdated cultural attitude.
