Our tree won't go up til after my birthday always even if hubby doesn't like it but this year will be different as hopefully ill be getting out of hospital on Christmas eve with the best presents ever our twins

I meant, 5th is the last day of Christmas, it ends before epiphany, which is -as you say- the 6th.
