I wouldn't necessarily agree with that, some bangs are not good

Who supposedly haunts it? How long was the jail in use for?

1846 - 1996

Ghost hunters and visitors to the former prison have reported several sightings and have reported hearing strange sounds. Doors can be heard slamming shut by themselves and male and female voices can be heard clearly calling out for help. A man walking down the “C wing” and disappearing has been seen by a lot of people.

Several ghost hunting investigations and ghostly tours are conducted regularly but everyone should know that these tours are not for the faint of heart. The sight of the hangman’s noose alone can send shivers down your spine. Many prisoners, both men and women, have been executed in the Crumlin Road Jail and they are said to remain in their last abode.

The place is filled with sadness and grief. One of the spookiest places is said to be the basement drop cell. It is the place where the dead man is set to dangle until he is surely dead. It will leave even the stout of heart shaken and in fear.

Was googling it for me and a friend as we've talked about doing it for ages.

Thanks. That's interesting. I'm reasonably open minded, but I think the power of suggestion can be an incredibly powerful thing, and combine that with big dark buildings with an echo and a dark history, and it's hard to tell what's real and what's not. Still, I might pay it a visit sometime. Mind you, in the seventies and eighties plenty of people walked down the corridor and disappeared, from what I remember

Ah yeah I'd say it's staged, it's an eery looking place anyway so wouldn't take much to put the frighteners on.

I'd reckon there's a few cemented in it from then!

Did it last year. Found it creepy but too many people in each group to be truly frightening. Having said that - I sure as hell wouldn't be sitting around by myself in the dark. The tunnel that runs under the crumlin road from the courthouse to the gaol was the eeriest for me. Think they do smaller groups and overnights too.
