I can never understand why people think its ok to insult thin people with the word "skinny" but god help anyone that calls someone fat instead of large or bbw etc.

"really don,t think she was trying to insult anyone "

No one said she was however if the question was phrased "athletic or obese / fat girls / guys whats your preference" it would be different.

Same as the guy on here last week saying he liked older ladies and he got flamed for using the term older.

Eh? Surely older is a simple but inoffensive comment. Doesn't "born before me" imply that someone is older. How did I miss that thread? I don't think athletic is the right word either, to be fair, as all "opposite to large" people aren't necessarily athletic

Perhaps athletic was wrong choice of word, and i agree that labels are not good however it does annoy me when someone that works hard at how they look whether it be the gym or dieting etc. gets called what is a derogatory term in "skinny" yet we dance around overweight people for fear we might insult them.

Why get insulted by the word 'skinny'? I'm a big guy and believe me, I would love to be called skinny!!!

Valid point. Unfortunately we seem to like using labels, so I suppose it's a matter of finding the least worst options, mar a deirtear. I suspect that most of us here don't mean any offence, but can cause it inadvertently. Big word that, I must endeavour to use it more often. Feck, I've done it again.

It's like the glass half full or half empty. If it's half empty you don't see it where if its half full you do. I'm a half full type so I can see beauty in all should it be nice eyes kissable lips fabtastic breasts a smashing bum legs to die for. Embrace the half full glass and be nice to one another. Never worry about weight as long as your fit heathly and living life in the fast lane at full throttle

If you read the other forums on here this subject comes up time and time again. I fail to see where people get the idea that overweight people are favoured over other body types if you go by what people say on here. Some horrible insults are flung around , and please, you are far more likely to be insulted if you are overweight than if you are not, that is a fact of life. I don't believe in labelling either, but so many just love to do it, society needs to have little slots to pop everything into or they just can't cope!
