The Kingdom came up short on the turf,

As Galway dashed over the Croke Park surf,

With Coen striking twice to rattle the net,

And Noone kicking points the Kingdom won't forget.

The Tribe held their nerve in the dying-off-breath,

Defeating the green-and-gold pride-at-the-death!

What a week it’s been for the roar of the West,

When Mayo last Sunday laid ghosts to long rest,

And lifted Sam Maguire from the famine-bound track,

Earning rights to the roads and the craic and the slack.

So come on, mighty neighbours in red and in green,

Share out the glory of what we have seen—

Since the cups are both west of the Shannon and all,

Hand back Eyre Square's open-top bus for the haul!

Let the Galway girls ride it right down through the arch,

With the sound of the Tribes in victorious march!
