The Swingers' Scroll

The profile pics are twenty years too old,

With bios written brave and big and bold.

"We love long walks, fine dining, and romance,"

(Translation: please just jump into our pants).

The inbox fills with offers by the score,

From "Single Male, 40" (he’s fifty-four).

He promises he’s "discreet, fit, and fun,

"But sends a blurry photo in the sun.

The forums rage with etiquette debates:

"Who pays the bar tab on the first-time dates?"

"Why did that couple ghost us at the bar?"

"And who left glitter in my hybrid car?"

A lady writes, "We’re looking for a beast,

"The single guys go wild, to say the least.

One hundred messages arrive by ten,

From desperate, hopeful, copy-pasting men.

The "Pic Requests" are where the chaos lies,

Just endless close-ups, causing heavy sighs.

No faces shown, just torsos, ink, and wall,

And angles that should not exist at all.

"Xxx Swinger" wants a local meet,

But only if it's down a quiet street.

His wife is clueless, sitting on the couch,

While he’s online and typing in a slouch.

The hotel takeovers are planned for June,

They book the rooms beneath the summer moon.

The hallways echo with a lively thud,

And someone’s spilled prosecco on the rug.

The acronyms will make your brain go numb,

From BBC to HH, it gets dumb.

You need a dictionary just to see,

If you’re a match for "Couple, 43."

Then comes the ghosting, standard as can be,

"We're so excited! See you there at three!"

But three o'clock arrives and no one shows,

They blocked your number—that's just how it goes.

Yet back they log, to try their luck anew,

To filter through the wild, eccentric crew.

With hope eternal and a profile fresh,

The endless, digital pursuit of flesh.

Enjoy.
