"How about "stroke city""

The late great Gerry Anderson wrote a book about growing up in the city and called it Stroke City. I'm not sure if he was the one who called it that first.

He was in a bookshop in Belfast one day and couldn't see any copies of his book so he thought maybe they had all sold out until the staff told him they were in the medical section.

You could say that alright, if you were insane.

The overwhelming majority of people in Derry, of all persuasions, call it Derry. The BBC and the DUP call it by the other name.

No need to apologise at all.

I was just correcting your incorrect statement above about how it's only catholics, nationalists and republicans refer to Derry as Derry.

😂 True.

Now I'm off with my new cool lingo telling people I'm from Can. I suppose if I say it rather than spell it some might think I'm French.

Rumour has it the tag applied to derry came from a consortium of sign writers from London. Those crafty colonial sorts lengthened the name derry by adding 6 extra letters ....they then went about charging by the letter. Same unscrupulous sorts did the same by putting the prefix northern to Ireland and charging by the letter. Oddly enough an Indian consortium in London tried the same with the label londondelhi but farage would have none of it. He said shame on those pesky foreign types coming here and changing our place names

Well at least the sign writers up in Northern Ireland will be making money converting all the signs into Irish language now. Hopefully they will charge brought the nose to do it n bankrupt the place or at least backrupt the tax payers

Some people call the city Londonderry

Some people call it Derry

Does it really matter if you're having sex with them

Unless they shout out
