not far from

I'm sitting here eating an aldi knock off Wibbly Wobbly Wonder and it got me thinking, what ice creams do you remember from your childhood which may or may not have disappered from the freezer.

I'm startimg with the HB ones i havent seen in years...

1.Wibbly Wobbly Wonder

2. Super Split

3. Mini Milk

4. Sparkles

5. Big foot

6. That-A-Way

7. Golly bar (not very PC & was simply vanilla bar in late 90s/early 00s)

8. Solero Shots

9. Fat Frog

Any more?

Closest Ive come to super splits are the aldi & dunnes version. Could do with more orange flavour though.

We got sent to the shops for a block raspberry ripple and a packet of wafers on a Sunday. Whole lot cost £1.09.

Unless she (me Ma) sprung the Viennetta, then you knew it was a special occasion or one of us had done something to make her proud.

The local shop used to sell a chunk from a block between two wafers. Good times.

The choc ice, which I always thought was overrated the super split, golly bar, iceberger, those were the staples in the seventies, from what I remember.

I was saddened by the demise of the golly bar. I'm sure they could've just changed the name but it probably wasn't trendy enough for the new tastes that were developing.

👆 The ice cream block and wafers! I've a longing on me now. I used to keep rotating the wafer while my tongue ran along the ice-cream and the sandwich would get narrower and narrower. That's on the weekend shopping list now.

This is what I came to say. Twister #1. Also, Cola mr freeze, and sometimes your tongue was so cold you didn’t realise you sliced it on the plastic, trying to suck the life out of it

Squeezing the wafers as you rotate so it pushes out more ice cream... Nostalgia is hitting hard here!

Vivid memory of getting offered an “ice lolly” by an English friend’s dad when I was a ween… the disappointment when I realized it was just a cool pop!

The HB Dracula are still available in multipacks from supermarkets, I got one recently, the local shop used to sell wafers on a Sunday after mass, the block was divided into 4 or 8 equal sections and priced accordingly

They were cool pops for me. Suck the flavour out until you're left with an ice stick. The large ones were a bit too big and the plastic always cut the corners of your mouth.
