How do you tell the difference between a real or fake profile on fab? Anyone got some guidelines or tips they’d like to share for newcomers and those not so new to fab.

A nice rock

Have they put genuine effort into the profile, pics, bio etc...

Do photos match their description of themselves.

Is there one really impressive photo and nothing else.

Image reverse searches.

Weird verifications or verifications of other suss profiles.

All of that is pretty obvious.

And once profiles start interacting it's usually even easier to spot if there is something not adding up

Some fakes are very obvious but others can be quite shhhhneaky and may fool even the most experienced Fabbers!

If you find that the existence of non genuine profiles is interfering with your enjoyment of the site it might be best to take a break.

When you encounter a dodgy profile it can be fun to play along for a while and basically turn the tables on them.

Take fakes as part of the fun on Fab!

One verification from a hidden profile raises a red flag for me

You get used to the fake photos...they just seem off so reverse image search and block if they use a fake photo

I can't put a finger on it, there is always just something that raises a flag for me.

I've only ever been wrong once. A fella from "Clare" had a few different couples profiles, all with simailr type names. Then a couple from Cork setup their profile with something similar. Didn't block them zt the time, and later saw they were verified by people we had bumped into previously and socials.

I just think all accounts are fake until proven otherwise.

Fake or flake amount to the same thing if you spend time cultivating an engagement and it doesn't pan out because someone ghosts.

It's Schrödinger's fuck. You don't know it's real until it's actually happening.

As for spotting them I think haste is a dead giveaway. The ones that want to go fast whether it's chat apps or sharing pics or meeting asap are usually the ones full of shite.

And remember Rule 30. There are no women on the internet 😂

Pictures are usually a good place to start. There's also verifications. For example if it's a couple but it's only the fella mentioned in the veri it usually rings alarm bells.

If the pictures are a bit too perfect I'll automatically be a little suspicious, but equally suspicious if there are none 😂

That one verification that's appeared suddenly by a private profile when they were complaining about not being able to meet up until that point is super fishy.

Copy and paste type messages that don't relate to information on your page (I love your photos type thing when there are no public pics)

None of what I've listed above actually proves or disproves anything about if a profile is genuine, but is definitely indicative to who I would or wouldn't risk engaging with. 🤷🏻

My theory, and I could be completely wrong. There are not really that many people running fake profiles.

It's more likely to be one individual running a few of them.

They get one veri on their own profile and then setup multiple accounts verifying each other. The

Verifications will be hidden but there are little tells on this when you notice it.

I've seen definite trends of this in profiles appearing and apparently based in the midlands area this year.

I have to say I'm pretty oblivious to spotting fake unless it's painfully obvious. Maybe im not paying enough attention.

I was somewhat annoyed when someone was using/stealing some my photos but I guess you're always gong to have a few bad eggs in the basket.

Once you've been here long enough you kinda get familiar with names and people certainly in the forums which is where I like to loiter around for a bit of banter
