Thinking of going on a solo holiday. Does anyone have experience of this and where would be a good place to go?

Solo holidays are my favourite things. If you like city breaks, I think they’re the ideal for solo. Plenty to do and explore.

I would say for your first solo holiday, pick a country you’ve been to before, can speak a little bit of the language and you’ll feel a bit more comfortable being on your own.

They are hands down the most relaxing holidays. No one to keep happy but yourself. No one dragging you places you don’t want to go. You can choose to chat to people or be mute for the entire time…so bloody peaceful 😂

somewhere

You need to decide what type of holiday you want

Beach relaxing

Mountains..

Walking

City breaks ....museums

I try to go away at least once a year on my own for long weekends but have also done a week away relaxing in the heat on my own

Last long weekend was to Stockholm last October

12 museums over 3 days and doing everything at my own pace ...loved it

"Where have you been that you enjoyed the most?"

I’ve done pretty much all the cities in France that Ryanair fly to.

Toulouse and Nantes were probably my favourites. Lots to do in both and lovely little streets to wander. I tend to do a studio apartment right in the centre. You’ll get one for about €50 a night.

Solo travel is class. I loved Krakow the couple of times I've been - flights can be a bit more expensive than average but the city itself is/was nice and cheap. Bucharest is a smashing spot that doesn't get mentioned enough. Really enjoyed Trieste and Bruges in recent years too.

Yep, this is the shout. Best of both More than one option to fly into. Plenty to do and very easy to get around by Metro.

Bit late spotting this thread.

The best way to travel in my view do what you want, when you want, how you want.No need to compromise or negotiate with anyone.

I'm fairly solitary in general but you can interact or not on trips like this to suit your mood.

I'm currently planning a swing through several countries in the Balkans if work doesn't interfere.

If you have never done solo travel just go for it.Its different and may become your go too.

Holiday to Gran Canaria

There's a gang of us go over to PDI in October, you can do as much solo as you like, you dont have to interact with the group at all but at the same time if you fancy company can always reach out, might be perfect for your first trip away, have your holiday but still have back up if needed

Probably one of the best things I have done is go on solo trips. You only have to do what you want and no drama if you miss anything. Krakow is excellent with loads to do. Plenty of day trips, sightseeing and some great pubs and restaurants. Vilnius is well worth a visit for a few days. Lots of history and good food and nightlife. Budapest the same. Ruin bars are a must see. Prague is also well worth a look but expect to be approached on the streets regularly by working girls

We had a good few solo people in our party and all had a great time. Suppose it all depends on networking in advance.
