If a double bed in the back of a van counts as camping I’m up for it. Did it last year at a swingers camping weekend and did a few solo camping trips around parts of Ireland

Depends on your budget! Like all things you get what you pay for. If you get a good quality bell tent it will last you 20years but heavy so its 2 person carry and short distance. We have numerous types. But we have a vango 450 and it has seen a lot of use and still spotlessly perfect.

Camped at Allihies beach last year. Campsite has fairly basic facilities but it had an onsite sauna pod with direct access to sea for cooling off.

Worth it for the scenery alone on the drive from Kenmare to Allihies.

I go camping often and would be keen on joining a group.

As for tent advice it really depends what you'll use it for. If you're driving to a campsite then weight is irrelevant and you focus on comfort features.

I backpack hike so I need my tent to be very light and reliable, so I opted for a Durston. Less room for activities, but barely noticeable in my bag!

We don't mind the weight of the tent we are are always no distance from the car but a 3 person pop up with good head height would be a ideal one oh and blackout too

Outwell are good, Vango, Sunncamp, Olpro, Easycamp are a budget branch of Outwell but still very good. Avoid unbranded supermarket things. Decathlon are quite good. If you are getting through good tents, it may be you need to look after them a bit better. It takes longer than you think to dry them. But losing poles in a storm, well the poles can be replaced rather than a whole new tent.

We have a polycotton Bell Tent (one of our tents anyway). Ours is a 4m. We love camping too. Our next outing is a festival in England.

That really interests us 😊 We’ve been planning camping trips for several years since we bought all the equipment, but we still haven’t gone on a real adventure yet

We’d really appreciate any good tips
