Don't know where you've been sourcing them up until now but if you haven't already, might be worth seeing if you know anyone with an account in Musgrave's wholesalers?

It's bad enough to have to endure the dreaded "Heino" when you go out to the pub, roit!

But bringing it into the sanctity of your own home is absolutely sacrilegious imho.

🤢🤮😇

Be adventurous and try something from one of the many craft breweries that provide kegs.

Wicklow Wolf might be a good possibility. Maybe start with a half keg until you find something you really like.

Cheers...🍺🍻🍺

Excellent idea. Try some real beers, or see my response to your other post on exactly the same question 🤔

For the love of God listen to this advice. There is absolutely no reason to go with the bog standard commercial slop when there are so many great crafted options out there. It's a great excuse to go try new things.

Imagine creating a bar in our own house then stocking it with a lager you actually like.

I love when people start telling us we should all be drinking craft beers it automatically informs me that they should be avoided before they bore me to death.

Most craft beers are horrible muck.

Op....I looked up a few websites and 295 was standard for all of them

Assume the price of drink went up in the last few months

I dont drink apart from Heineken zero but I do know I never tasted an IPA that wasnt disgusting

If you have a local pub u frequent, and are friendly with the owner, see if he can get you one at cost price

You are not going to get it much cheaper than 295 tbh.

It's a matter of taste I guess. Some people may want to stick to bland vanilla style options and others may want to try a variety of more exotic flavours.

Sampling craft beers is a bit like the swing lifestyle in that way I suppose. Variety is the spice of life.

I have tasted many different craft beers and I cannot recall any that were "muck". Most are in fact far more flavoursome and satisfying to taste than the equivalent mass produced offerings.

Some of the most boring people I have met were dedicated Heino drinkers. But then one person's scintillating conversation is another person's yawn fest.

Vive la différence 🍺🍷🥂🍸🍹🥃🥤☕️🧃🥛

If you have a look at brewcrew and thekegcru.ie

/collections/keg-specials-short-date-kegs?hl=en-IE

you'll often find past bbe and short dated kegs at a very steep discount. These are perfectly drinkable beers that are just over their 'peak' in terms of flavour.

Just check the couplers.

You can also have a look for PET and One Way kegs that don't require a deposit/return.

Lastly it's often cheaper to collect if you live near a brewery.

Love that response.

Also be aware that our own Rye River brewery is the most awarded brewery in the world for the past 3yrs, mostly craft

I haven't tasted a worldwide produced beer i liked in over 10yrs.

Grapefruit Juicy IPA nearly ready for bottling here👌

Rye River produce some excellent beers and their stout, which is available on draught in some Dublin pubs, is equal to or better in terms of flavour and mouth-feel to any pint of "G splitter".

Now that the "G" is being even more mass produced in county Kildare it may lose some of its Liffey water taste and the nostalgia value associated with the St.James Gate site.

Guinness is not made with water from the liffey

Its still being made in St James's gate in the future

The concept of judging a person’s character based on what they drink is crazy, class aspersions aside

Having been involved in various engineering projects on the St. James's Gate site over the years I am aware that river water isn't used in the brewing process.

My reference was meant as a tongue-in-cheek nod to the proximity of the brewery to the river Liffey.

Products being produced in Kildare are for export only at the moment, but plans for additional extension of the site may indicate a different long-term plan.

But good to see Guinness going back to its roots in Kildare since Arthur G was a Celbridge man by birth.

I know it’s been said above, but there are three independent breweries in Wicklow (Oh Brother, Wicklow Wolf and Ri Ra) all of whom produce a perfectly good lager, which is probably available fresher and cheaper than the multinational offerings. It’s not adventurous drinking, it’s just quality, local, fresh lager. You might be pleasantly surprised.
