I am busy at the moment. I have 4 walks in Dublin and 2 in Wicklow which are easy enough.

First one I am going to do is flat except for one small incline.

I will come back to those who have replied in the forum. Many thanks for replying anyway.

My apologies for any inconvenience caused to anyone. Paddy

Probably late June. I'm just busy at the moment helping a friend clear her house for a rewire

I checked over some of the route last night.

From the Dart station to the end of the nature trail is 3k.

If you feel that is far enough for you then you can follow the route back to the village for a coffee and chat. About 6k in total. If it is a clear day great views of Dublin Mountains. There are benches along the nature trail. It took me about 1 hour and 20 minutes steady Walking 🚶‍♂️.

I intend continuing on from the end of the nature trail to the Shelly banks and then down to the end of the South wall and back the same route.

Sunday 28th June. Please let me know if you are interested.

I'm not sure if you know but these forums are completely public and people who aren't on fab can read them so it's never a good idea to give out locations because any random person can turn up. If I had been interested in taking part I wouldn't go now because you haven't kept these details private.

Apart from any non-Fab people turning up the possibility of some of the whack jobs that are actually on the site making an appearance is even more worrying.

I would be totally strict about not revealing the location of walks outside the immediate group. So much so that it earned me a spell on the naughty step for labouring the point in the past when someone, not in our walking group, mentioned a location in a thread.

Best to set up a group chat and keep the walk details strictly between those that have been invited onto the group.

You could now change the date or the location and have a wry smile at the thought of some creepy characters turning up at the mentioned location on that date.

Keep it discreet but keep on walking.

Many thanks for the advice Badger. I was just trying my best to get a walking group set up.

It might be best to hand it over to someone else to try.

.....

Absolutely not. You were the one with the initial idea so you should see it through.

I am always amazed that such a group doesn't already exist in the Dublin area.

It is a delicate balance getting things right on here because of the nature of the site and there will always be clowns about who will try to take advantage of a situation, so discretion is key.

The location sounded ideal so just pick an alternative for that date and you can use the original location for a future walk.

Fab socials are never easy to organise but are always worth while for those who attend.

Happy hiking.

So what if the nut jobs turn up what are they actually going to do just tell them to fuck off not like they can phone the guards they dont know any of our details so not like they can post anything on social media and so what if thry do we are a bunch of people our walking wheres the harm in that people need tk get a grip

.....

Walks by their nature take place in public areas so it's not easy to prevent uninvited people from hanging on to the group if they are determined to do so. If a situation arises where you need to tell them to f'off it could escalate and lead to embarrassment, and possible fear, for those genuinely there to meet, walk and chat with other Fabbers.

In an indoor venue there can be security and uninvited persons can be asked to leave but this is not just possible in an outdoor public area.

Many thanks for your support much appreciated. You are so right. I should not let myself be put off. I'll think of an alternative.
