Losing working from home in three weeks time due to a new position. Going to be a right kick in the balls going back to 5 days in the office again.

Anyone else missing the handiness?

Never had it even during covid

Always wondered is it hard to get motivated when working from home but I suppose if you're reporting to someone else then the work must be done

I worked from home for 6 years. Didn't realise how much I missed the regular interaction with people until I went back to working with people. Having a laugh and uniting in the pain and misery 🤣

I bloody hate WFH. Don't do much of it and when I do, I always find some other job that needs doing instead of what I should be doing.

Haha, though I agree. I think for people who knew life before Covid are usually ok. For younger generation not being in office must be hard to get things done but also learn . I say this as someone who has the option but rarely does it. Although people might disagree when you have a job that’s not fully remote, you do get left out of things. It’s easier to be overlooked!

I couldn't work from home, I'd be gone insane.

It's nice to get out of the house and interact with other humans

I've never had a job that I could do remotely so wfh is alien to me.

I wouldn't miss the commute though and I would be happy to do it if the opportunity ever arose.

Ah no!

It’s not for everyone but it suits me down to the ground.

We switched to a mandated 2 days in the office… but I’m clinging on the WFH like grim death!

Same, only during lockdowns did I WFH and I hated it!

I've wfh 2 days and wouldn't give it up. I get whole in office learning, social etc but I resent the commute especially in summer evenings.

Did full wfh from 20 - 23 and i found it hard at times. You need a very strong engagement style to build social networks in a work environment purely on line

I tried working from home for a summer. I now have 15 patios, 12 fences, 27 lawns and my hedges are all trimmed to oblivion. As well as that, I made no money.

Maybe landscaping wasn't the best choice for wfh?

Never worked from home, even during lockdown I was still going into work every day. I’m a bit of a brat 😏 so I don’t think I’d stay very disciplined and motivated at home 🙃😉

I'd spank you for that but it might be counter productive 😂

I do love the social interaction when in the office, I even do an office quiz on the Tuesdays. But, the sleeping in that bit later and no hour long commute is quite handy when you can WFH

Initially I was dead set against WFH but now, I absolutely love it. I have to be in office twice a week & I'm always trying to think of excuses to not go in. Via teams, I can interact with colleagues I want to interact with both for social chats & professional ones so maybe that's why I don't miss the social aspect as much.

If I was told I had to go into an office 5 days a week, not to be dramatic or anything but I legit think I'd shed some tears (and just coz of the fuel prices lol)

Exactly, it's handy and cosy staying at home. I'd be in the same boat as you, that I have to go in two days of the week and sometimes I'd be itching to find a reason to stay at home as well. Saves me getting up two hours earlier than if I was staying at home. I'm looking forward to the end of my 6 weeks of training and finding out what days I can WFH afterwards

Very grateful to be working remotely full time now. I dont miss the 200km 4 hour round trip daily commute.

Life work balance restored after 15 years on the M7.

WFH even before lockdown but at least I got to travel a bit. Not now, permanently at home - we don’t even have an office anymore.

I miss people (to a degree! lol) but I don’t miss the commute AT ALL

Nothing can beat the lack of a commute when it comes to work benefits, outside of pay rises of course

Its also very handy when your commute is against traffic both ways.

See mine is slap bang into traffic. I try to leave homr earlier to avoid it. That works on the way in but on the way home, it just doesn't seem to matter.

Also edit to my earlier post...it's *not just coz of the price of fuel 🤭🤭

Congrats on the new position! I dont know if I'd move to a job that was fulltime on site again. WFH is way more productive imo. C.

I'm not willing to move either it's a mandatory move as the unit is being dismantled over the never few months and I'm part of the first batch moving out. I'd happily have stayed on where I currently on for another while, but that's life for you

Ah got you. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully it settles and travel time isn't bad for you. Mandatory moves are challenging. Is there a percentage happy about it?
