Left my job earlier this week, was only working there for 3 months. Could do with a career change, any suggestions. Ideas on how to get started at something new. Remember to keep it clean folks! Wouldn’t want anyone to get banned from the forums!

In a career as in all aspects of life " change is as good as a rest". Better to embrace change and enjoy new experiences than waste energy stuck in a rut or resisting the inevitable. Change by choice is easier to manage than when it is forced upon you but either way it should be viewed as an opportunity.

Use the skills and knowledge you have gained through experience to set yourself up in a new career. Often your particular skills set may be even more valuable in a different field of work than the one in which you have developed those skills. Look at any hobbies you may have and see if you can apply your skills and experience in a professional way in the area of that hobby. Chat to family and friends about possibly opportunities they may be aware of.

Update your CV and get it out there. Opportunities do not normally come knocking, you have to go out, find them and grab them with both hands.

Having changed career a number times, mostly by choice but also out of necessity, I learned that you often have more to offer than you might think. My last move was in my early 60's and lead to a most interesting, enjoyable and rewarding few years before retirement. So don't let age be a barrier, at either end of the scale.

With unemployment at an all time low there are endless opportunities for career change.

Best of luck in your career journey....

and remember, you make your own good luck.

In my opinion apply for something similar but different, something you've learnt that is applicable to your next job.

Don’t think that’s a career.

Well he could chauffeur the binmen around in the truck. Someone has to drive it for the bin men to collect the bins 👍👍💪

Very true, though I’d probably need a HGV licence for that!!!
