Yup, France in Paris are hard to beat plus the churn in the Irish squad won’t help

Ireland to make a fist of it but I’d say France will have it

We are weak in the front row. We are down to our fourth and fifth choice loose head props and could really struggle in the scrums. Hugo Keenan is also a big loss, even though Osborne is a really capable replacement but lacks match fitness. The return of Dupont is also going to have a massive impact. He makes France tick. He’s a generational talent.

If we can get parity in the set pieces we have a chance but if France get a run on us it could get ugly.

Mac Hansen is some loss going by how he did in November

Always seems that they are hard to predict and often don't go with the form for some reason, but if I was putting money on it I'd be going with France

Hansen is clearly a loss but Tommy O’Brien is playing well. Our depth is being tested more in other positions.

Farrell was never going to make the changes himself to build depth towards the World Cup next year in Australia so it’s a good test. We have two group games in which our squad players should be enough to beat. Big test for our props and i’d be slightly worried about the wings/fullback.

I would’ve liked to see Edwin Edogbo on the bench & throw him in at the deep end against France but he’ll likely play against Italy Saturday week. Ireland A v England XV Friday night in Thomond Park will give other players a taste of international environment too.

Something to fill a Thursday evening.

I think France are too strong for this current Irish team. Realistically Ireland are a team in transition and Farrell should be willing to sacrifice this 6 nations and work on building for the world cup or we'll be going home early and the butt of South African jokes yet again. I think Bundi getting banned is ridiculous. For years Sexton, O'Mahony and many before them said a lot worse to refs.

I agree with all of this. Bundi dropped even before the hearing. World Cup should be our priority. Great to seeCian Prendergast getting a well deserved start. They will give 100% regardless of the outcome

The IRFU had to be seen to do something regardless of disciplinary meeting because it’s not the first ban he’s had for same. It’ll create a bias against Ireland among referee’s which we don’t need.

I was at an U-18.5’s match at the weekend involving the rugby club I played for and the abuse from the sidelines towards the referee and players which are basically kids is deplorable.

It needs to be stamped out and I personally feel that Bundee Aki has played his last game for Ireland already.

you have the vocals from the sideline in all sports and unfortunately the only way to stop it is complete silent sideline which will never happen.

I agree about the sideline experts . A lot of parents are suddenly an authority on whichever sport their pride and joy is playing. Does anyone agree that the refereeing standard in the URC is pretty bad. It’s frustrating players to no end.

Bundee might well have played his last game but it would be a disgrace for him to go out like this after all he has given for this team. The man has worked harder and bled more than most of the Irish born players ever did. Disrespect from the sidelines is not a new thing. That was going on when I played underage rugby 40 years ago. Yes it needs to be stamped out but banning a player before the hearing is not the way to do it.

....

The respect shown by Munster fans through silence for the kicker, regardless of which team is kicking, shows that a crowd can be made to behave properly with a little pressure from the surrounding well behaved fans.

France to win.

Bundee has form in regard to running his mouth off so I have no qualms about him being dropped prior to the inevitable suspension.

France will win but by how much depends on Mcloskey, Osborne and stockdale staying on the park they all have been misfortunate with injury. It could be along evening for the forwards.

Don't think Ireland will be too worried by this 6 nations. He is looking at next world Cup. So will probably be testing new faces. Aki most likely won't be around next year with 5 or 6 others. Ireland most likely will end up mid table this year. Interestingly enough France have dropped Penaud because of his poor defending.France to beat Ireland, would love to be proven wrong.

Whatever the result it’s a tough match to watch for anyone who is an avid supporter of the Six Nations. It’s not enjoyable because of the tension but I try to watch all the matches regardless. With an English husband it makes one of the matches an interesting time!

France hard to beat at home. Unless their discipline lets them down. And Ireland can rattle them somehow without their discipline letting them down.

Will absolutely be a tough match to watch. If they pull off a win tomorrow night, the only other worry i’d have is England away. Playing good rugby & have gone back to what’s been successful for them under previous coaches.

Plenty to discuss here after.

The tension can be unbearable at times. I hope hubby didn’t rub it in too much when Marcus Smith snatched that winning drop goal to deny us a gran slam a couple of years ago. Enjoy the game this evening SS

Avoid handling errors and keep scrums to a minimum. France are just so dangerous in loose play. They can score from anywhere if we don’t stay alert. If we are still in it at 60 minutes our bench can have a big impact . I’m optimistic but not confident

Losing bonus point tonight and 3rd on the table at the end, realistic expectation, but it’s rugby, absolutely anything can happen.

Injury and controversy free, and a decent match/performance and I’ll be happy.

I think they’ll have to get in their face from the start, cannot give France time or space.
