You can DM me.

I don't want to but I have no choice at the moment to represent myself in my High Court appeal case. I am looking for more maintenance from my ex for our 2 kids.

They are with my full time. He gives me €200 a month for both of them. Its a joke. He is an evil narcissistic piece of 💩

I don't qualify for legal aid and I cannot afford legal representation.

I have Stage IV incurable cancer and am going to be on weekly chemo for the remainder of my life. The stress this is all causing me is not good.

I would love legal representation for my case 😪

So if anyone knows any solicitor/barrister who would LOVE doing some pro bono work, send them my way 😅

Funville

Try talking to someone in FLAC, they may be aware of solicitors who might take on similar pro bono work.

Wishing you the best and hopefully something postive comes of this post

I have spoken to FLAC before. They just say apply for legal aid.

I spoke to legal aid yesterday. Lady was lovely.

She gave me good advice but not guaranteed to be successful.

Not really helpful tbh. They just advise you. I've been through all of that before.

That seems like a small amount of maintenance.

I believe they calculate it on what the parent can afford.

If the children are over twelve and the primary care giver is unemployed the standard 280 for two children can raise to €955 , if you are entitled to HAP, this can also help. So if on job seekers with two kids over 12 you could have €2160 with the €200 included. Minimum wage in Ireland is roughly €2300 before tax.

If you can't get the amount increased there are other ways around it all .

I believe it is possible to earn up to 1200 a month and still retain most benefits but if this isn't an option perhaps look at sharing custody with the other parent equally, then no one pays maintenance and the allowances are shared.

I don't know your personal situation but I have been on the other side of this and wish I could have 50% custody as I am paying waaaaaay more maintenance and have so little time with my kids.

Is there no one in your divorce group that could act as a McKenise friend for you. (someone who could assist you in court, but not a member of the legal profession. The person should have experience going to Court).

You maintenance order should have been index linked with the rise of inflation.

Keep trying the legal aid board someone might act pro bono for you if they know your ex has property. They could force him to sell one of his properties to pay their fee.

You could also email the law library. Ask if any junior barristers are seeking experience in court.

Good idea. I looked into pro bono barristers etc but they only do referrals from organisations, not individuals.

I was going to go onto Joe Duffy and plead my case. I've been on Newstalk several times in the past talking about my personal circumstances and experiences.
