"I'm taller than Bob. Neither of us has an issue with this. Tonight some kids got very lippy walking down a deserted street behind us. To the tune "she's too tall", "her legs are too long", "the guy is supposed to be taller". I turned around and confronted them. The two who answered me seemed embarrassed, and a bit scared by the confrontation. Bob thinks I was too harsh and should have left them off. They were teenage boys. I have zero sympathy and zero tolerance for gobby boys acting the hard lad. (Yes, I'm cueing the jokes for my hard lad tolerance I know!). What would you have done in this situation? " You sound like someone I'd look up to

"For the sake of a little pride id keep walking. You dont know them or what their capable off. A quite street, late at night, group of young males... how many similar stories have we read in the paper. Like most little scrotes the chances are high one if them is carrying a blade of not more.. And if things do turn violent most of it will be taken out on the male. A lot of similar stories didnt end so well. So personally and sadly in today society id prefer if everyone stays quiet. More important to get home safe. Just my opinion." 💯 this I definitely wouldn't take the risk. You can't put manners on dickheads. If their parents couldn't be arsed why should you.

"You did the right. You should have kicked them in the balls. All these teenagers acting the maggots because they know nothing is going to happen to them. Not many beds in Oberstown." Give one a kick in the balls and you'll both have the absolute shite kicked out of you ..so what if youre a woman ...just an easier target Do you not read the newspapers to see what Dublin city center is like And how many people have been badly injured or even killed by these scumbags

How did she know how they would react?? Unless she has Nostradamus of course. There are countless stories nationwide of similar stories ending in violence and we only hear about the bad ones or fatal ones. Ireland is not the country is once was. Most groups of yound lad are tooled up and again no offence to dublin but how many stories do we hear of people amd tourists badly assaulted. So to think its a stretch is nieve to be honest.

We are going around kicking f teenagers in the balls for being a bit rude and making tall jokes? The adults are suppose to be the mature ones in the situation

That doesn't mean every group has bad intentions shootings beatings and loss of life have increased aswell So it def isn't the country it once was But I'd rather speak up and not be seen as an easy target

I have to agree with this though & not being seen as an "easy target" as I'm female. I also don't rely on Bob to defend me, and he doesnt need me to fight his corner either. He didnt even hear what they said! Kids running lippy online as someone mentioned earlier, may mean they think there is no reprecussion. Young girls could be their next target. Maybe me standing up to them, will make them pause next time. Just to clarify - Claire here and it was me doing all the talking. I didnt loose my temper and it wasn't in Dublin. Any time I've had to stand up to lads in the past, they have backed down. I dont believe it's luck. Yes, there are some bad ones out there (girls too), but the majority are just lippy and showing off to others. I'd 100% do the same again. Thanks for all the insights and opinions guys and girls, very interesting to see the different perspectives!

"Inexperience, would miss out on a lovely girl just because she is taller than me. I'm 6ft2, and still wouldn't turn me off if she was taller. People just like to give opinions on other people's life's, needs to stop. I think you were right to tell them off, pitty you can't give them a slap. People would have a lot more cop on then hahaha. True relationships date out of love, connections, not over status, numbers, finances. " Sorry, reading other posts, they are right about walking away, you never know now days which is sad. People don't have empathy anymore. Like that poor young lad in kildare recently. New generation doesn't value life, and it's largely due to their upbringing. Like I said, a slap didn't do me any harm growing up, I learned respect

Perhaps my wording was not the best. I understand how vulnerable ladies are walking home at night. These young teenagers are getting away with murder. The young girl who was pushed under the Dart. Their solicitor said he would sue if Cie showed the video. Some of these teenagers are not even suitable for the garda youth divisions programme. The Dept of defence had proposed to set up a similar programme but more on physical exercises etc. The youth justice workers do great work with these teenagers. There is only so much the YJW can do. The American tourist who was attacked by 3 lads. Can't recall if they got locked up or not but the minister of justice of the day said Dublin is safe as she walked around with 20 plus guards. I just think it is terrible what is happening in Dublin with these lads. They go to court and get free legal aid. The courts service closed the children court in Dun laoghaire and Sword and they all are in Children court Smithfield. Sharing info. I think in some incidents a heavy hand detention, fines that the parents have to pay would wake them up. My parents are from inner city Dublin. Don't know what causes this covid lack of school attendance, Internet or drug gang paying these lads 500 euros to drop a bag of drugs somewhere. Maybe if we meet at a social we can chat further about this.

"It's an in the moment thing! I'm shorter than him but i have decades of kick boxing behind me so if needed i can kick a guys ass. I'd probably have to tug him along to not go and flattenen them all. But if they attacked us then I'm not sure either of would hold back at all. " Your confidence shines through this, class to see! We may be cut from similar cloth re kickboxing in the past, I don't have the depth of years you have though, but what a sport for fitness and strength! X

" In principle I agree with you however in practice I probably would have ignored them as things could have gotten nasty

(I always wanted a huge cock, now I do!) 🤩" She is small but perfectly formed,.. The original pocket rocket
