I would have thought that this topic would get a little more response...... surprised that it took a few days to get going.... maybe all the motorhomers / campervanners are away at a secret location up to no good....lol

for play possibilities it all depends on the style and size of camper I guess, we are lucky ours has a huge sofa area that can convert into a large bed witha separate bathroom / shower and kitchen area..

"Mmmmm we like both, pub and a beach would be great"

Yes. There are plenty of locations like that.

I swim almost daily so I normally park up in a location where I can swim and eat nearby. Some of the pub/restaurants let you stay in their carpark - although I prefer parked up at the beach. I am using a nice what is referred to as a stealth camper. Actually messaging from it at the moment - parked beside the Shannon and pub restaurant beside me

Just a little post to say thank you to the campervan owning couples who reached out and have joined our telegram group .... currently looking at a get together in a few weekends time ... maybe an over nignt near a country or seaside pub stopover that after a social drink or two might lead to trying out different layouts later 😜😜😜

any campervan / motorhome couples who missed this first time around ... drop me a message and we can get you plugged in to this...

this group for couples only for now... as we see how things go we might open it up....

Or the other option is to use Ballyrisode Beach car park the other side of Schull.

You can park all along the prom in Salthill and it's lovely.

Parking on the docks isn't managed by the council. Its the Port of Galway company and they will clamp you in a heartbeat. Or you can just pay it's a perfectly nice place by the boats. Its 24hr pay parking.

The Salthill campsite is decent but I'm not sure of their opening season.

Galway city council issues fines under some spurious waste water legislation to campervans observed to be parked overnight, if you're up and gone before the traffic warden starts duty in the morning, you might be ok but you'll likely get a fine in the post if you're not

It could still work out expensive with VRT & VAT. Maybe try France?, Belgium or Holland. You're still going to get hit with VRT, but at least you won't have to pay VAT here.

I am a caravaner myself and love weekends away all over Ireland but have also done parts of Scotland as well. It’s a great way to holiday but I have yet to come across any like minded people while away. Who is nearby is a great way of checking.

Thinking of going to Wales this year and looking for recommendations of good sites if anyone had been there before. Thanks

"I'd love to buy a campervan but mother of God are they expensive to buy."

Start off with the basics - a reliable ordinary van, a quality mattress and down filled duvet etc.

Add to it as you can afford to.

It takes very little to get started and unless you intend using it all year round with longer trips then the above with a few creature comforts will get you out and about.

Waking up watching the sunrise, after a good night's sleep, in some of our lovely locations and beaches makes it all worthwhile.

After spending a wet long St Patrick's weekend in Achill - a nice warm dry weekend over Easter would do very nicely and that's even before any possible meets

"Just a little post to say thank you to the campervan owning couples who reached out and have joined our telegram group .... currently looking at a get together in a few weekends time ... maybe an over nignt near a country or seaside pub stopover that after a social drink or two might lead to trying out different layouts later 😜😜😜

any campervan / motorhome couples who missed this first time around ... drop me a message and we can get you plugged in to this...

this group for couples only for now... as we see how things go we might open it up...."

Would love to hear from like minded couples or ladies . We have just put our van conversion back on the road , hope to head off somewhere this weekend

Any ideas

Si xx

Wait… let’s think about this... 🤔 if my tent’s just for storage, where exactly am I supposed to sleep then? 🤔😏

There has to be a nice bit of mystery and mystique about the concept.

A gentleman would never leave a lady in a cold tent when he had room on board.🙂

Unfortunately the weather forecast is not good so if somewhere remote you will probably have the place to yourself.

If looking for others you may want to also put it on your profile.

Either way, good luck and enjoy

Thank you, but I love my tent... always hard, wet and tight, it’s never let me down and I can’t swap it for another model 😏

You don't need to swap - I don't have a tent but I do have a nice comfortable mattress in a nice motorised vehicle.
