Fear

Fear can be an enemy when it rules you, but a teacher when you listen to it, and a fuel when you harness it. The key is not to suppress fear, but to transform it into clarity, energy, and courage.

Do any of you experienced "fear", and how do you deal with it?

I recently had a non fab related experience that terrified me and have been fascinated since.

Its subjective and how you deal with it is the key,

However, i had a curry last night and today im terrified to fart!

I've lost 5 close family members, 2 friends of more than 40 years and 3 dogs in the last 2½ years.

My only fear is losing others.

I can't remember the last time I felt physically afraid of anything or anyone.

I once read a nice narrative about fear: Your mind is like a desert in which you create the ghouls and demons that come out to haunt you.

A lot of our fears and anxieties are created in our minds and are not real, so how can you be afraid of something that is not real?

Having said that, I do get a bit nervous if I'm out late on my own and I'm coming near a loud crowd of d*unken youths-that makes me nervous. Or big, aggressive folks-you never know how they are going to behave.

Are excitement and fear distinguishable?

So similar, except in how we view them. Adrenaline rush etc....

Only once in my life have I felt an actual paralysing fear...

I couldn't move and I tried to scream but no sound came out.

Aside from that I've been in some situations where I was scared for my loved ones or my own safety.

The youngest is living the life of reilly ....out every weekend ...says he'll be home by midnight .....ends up in coppers so 4 it is

Worry about him being in town ...fear of getting a phone call from a hospital..

The other fear for all of them is their future in Ireland

Yeah I miss that. It really is scary. I trust my kids but when you know how nasty the real world is its a worry. Thankfully there are really selfless kind strangers and one of those put themselves out for my son when he was in trouble. I'd like to think I'd do the same too if needed.

I don't get it very often anymore. But back in the day if I was away with the lads drinking for a few days, I'd always get it the first night when home.

I used to dread it every time.

The things I've experienced.

I know it wasn't real, but it feels very real at the time.

I don't think fear and excitement are very similar. Not to me. It's a different type of adrenaline rush.
