Yes we know it's summer and this is the time of year for midgies, but my god they are bad this year, what's the best way to keep them off your skin,we have both tried every spray imaginable and not one of them worked, anyone else got any tips?

Avon skin so soft works for me and is used by SAR teams and special forces all over the world.

Other deet free repellents never work.

Another option that some swear by are brewers yeast tablets. There's no scientific evidence but I've been told by a dentist and someone else who works in the field of medicine that if taken over a period of time it puts the midges off biting.

A drop of tea tree oil in your moisturiser or sunblock works a treat, plus a drop or two in your trainers is grest for odour

Citronella oil is the essential oil most commonly used as insect repellent. Do not use it neat though, it should be mixed with a carrier cream or base oil

Since I read this thread my social media is showing me ads for a gadget you put on your keyring and plug into your phone for power

It zaps the bite and burns it and no more itch

Avon skin so soft is by far the best repellent we've seen and used by far and beard used to buy it in bulk when he was a cadet instructor especially good in Scotland when training was there and just as good in co down too

Jungle Formula was the go to for me for a while, now I don’t seem to notice till it’s too late so it’s Anthisan for after, bastards…..

I’ve taken some safety precautions while naked gardening and pop on a condom for that too, can’t be too careful in that department……

"I think "little person" is the term that's used these days "

....

The correct term for common biting midges in Ireland is Culicoides Impunctatus.

The term "little person" normally refers to those with the condition dwarfism. Midget is also used to refer to those with this condition but is seen as somewhat offensive.

Yes smidge is good. You can get it in a credit card size package that is very handy.

Also I found it you are around machinery and there is the smell of diesel they keep away.

I see some older lads who smoke pipes just puff on a pipe (tobacco pipe you perverts) to keep midges away. Cigars also work.
