Candidates for President....

Jump to newest

By *udding Rose OP   Woman

Somewhere out there

And the candidates are:

Michael Flatley (67) to be confirmed yet

Independent TD Catherine Connolly (68)

Fine Gael TD Mairead McGuinness (66)

What's your opinions?

They're all in their late sixty's..... I guess they'll have life experience but is it not too old to be running for President!? I know Michael D Higgins was 70 and he did a great job tbf!!

Do we want another elderly president?

Do you think the Irish Parliament will nominate Michael Flatley to run for the President? What do you think of Michael Flatley, love him/hate him? If you dislike him, why do you dislike him?

Please play nice, it's a discussion not an excuse to row about it!!

It's McGuinness to lose really.

Look, there is lots to admire about Flatelys achievements, but he's a bit of a tit!

I put Conolly in the same box as Roderic O'Gorman..I just don't trust them, at all!!

Flatley is a non starter. A great dancer in his day but not up to the standard set by the recent incumbents, Mary Robinson, Mary Macalease, & Michael D.

Mc Guinness or Connolly very different political backgrounds but either would do a good job.

I would have loved Senator Norris to be President when he was younger, The Man is full of Class & Charisma & would have been an excellent President of Ireland

Tbh I don't want any of the contenders right now

Bertie is still in talks isn’t he! McGregor won’t even be considered!

Apprently Panti has been approached again!! If that happens there’s my vote

I don't think Flatley has the support for it. McGuinness is well known and respected. Not sure if Berties health is up to it

I found MGQ a strange one. There are not many under 40 that ever heard of her, never mind remember her.

She is a long time out of the game!

That’s a very fair point but do many younger people vote in the Presidential one really! She’s one I always liked when I was younger

I do hope we start getting a few more names popping up

"Thinks its Sinn Feinn's to lose if they pick Mary Lou or Gerry Adam's to run "

I'd say they're weighing up the risk/reward for running Mary Lou.

If she lost, it would definitely have consequences for the wider party.

If people didn’t trust them to run the country they won’t for the president! She would need to step down first I think!

She would be a brilliant Tasioach! It be a waste going for this! Gerry Adam’s would be some statement!!

Me too! I was gutted when he dropped out last time.

Flatley is unlikeable, he is a no.

McGregor is a national embarrassment.

McGuinness maybe.

Someone to represent Ireland on the global stage, politically and culturally.

Tommy Tiernan comes to mind.

The current President of the GAA gave a few rousing speeches recently, he wouldn't be a bad shout.

Unfortunately we will get some cunt

The last 3 President have done us proud.

Not sure who will get the gig. The FF are trying to get Deirdre Heenan to enter race. She could be a good choice. The blueshirts would love to win the President.
