I suppose sometimes when you send a nice message and you either don’t get a reply or are told that she isn’t interested, it can dent the confidence. But I’ve never thought I’m god’s gift and I’ve been rejected in real life plenty of times, so it probably hasn’t hugely changed how I view myself

No I can't say it has, thankfully.

I've accepted that the ratio is stack against me.

However I will chance making contact and if something transpires great, if not, thats ok.

Such is life. I try have zero expectations on here so I can be pleases as apposed to dissapointed.

Nothing personal should be taken from interaction or not here, I’m sure it’s a combination of busy regular lives, lots of messages that you won’t ever get through and also from people who don’t read your profiles and lots of people here for lots of different reasons. I know some who are only here for forums, some for socials and events and all the rest. For me I just have a really busy normal life with lots of what’s app groups, kids, full time work, travel and I just don’t have a huge amount of time on fab so nothing personal here.

yeah people use it for different reasons. I seen guy before say it was effecting his mental health and replies were get off the site in response not much empathy shown TBF wasn't everyone that replied said it

Yeah you've got to be thick skinned. It's not easy. Having said that the women here who immediately get treated like a bunch of holes to be used by lots of men isn't that great for their self image either.

No, my self esteem or confidence is not effected FS here.

In particular, I am at a distinct disadvantage immediately because I cannot accommodate and I'm on my own(not a Couple)

I would only expect messages from Men who might be interested and who happen to be able to host.

Also, and quite rightly, Women need to be that bit more "safety aware".

So, it is, as the name describes, a site mainly for Swingers only.

Just my opinion from being a site member on both FS and FGs'

such a pity though, as I would love to meet women or Couples on FS.

Funny enough I used to think I didn't belong on here because of my age and body shape ....didn't do my self esteem any good until I realised I wasn't in competition with other men

My self esteem has never been linked to fab and never will.

I'm not downplaying how it can affect some but for me this place has never been anything more than a hobby and I control what happens here including my interaction with other people.

I wouldn't be here if it was affecting my mental health.

Nah, it did in the beginning alright but it actually helped make me aware of how much that side of myself was invested in the validation and acknowledgement of others.

allowing it to impact ones self esteem can happen if not careful

The replies to this post give an interesting range of people's attitudes and disposition. It's easy to say don't do it if it affects your mental health or confidence but that's easier said that done. It can be a lonely place sitting in your kitchen at night getting blanked or rejected over and over again even if you are normally positive person in good mental health.

I was frustrated with fab, sending loads of messages and not getting any response, but I read similar threads to this one and understood that is about time and effort. After a while I was lucky enough to meet someone who's verification opened up fab for me.

Also, I was self-conscious until I noticed that a lot of the men on here have similar, dad-bodied, well fed figures like myself which gave my confidence a good boost.

My advice would be:

1) Lower/manage your expectations- this isn't a meat market, and as has been pointed out above, people have real lives and for most fab is a distant second to reality.

2) Try to get to m&gs, socials, etc. This will show people that you're genuine and not the weirdo/creep that many men can come across as when they're not verfied.

3) A lot of people use fab to check the forums and keep an eye on things like announcements for upcoming socials and rarely meet directly from fab, but make connections/contacts at socials/gatherings

4) Fab is like any other dating site, there's a lot of noise that you've to try to be heard through. If it's getting you down then take a break and come back to it when you're in a better mindset.

5) Don't be a gobshite. Have some respect - you get back what you give out.
