Recognising Fabbers

If you recognised a fellow fabber in public or at work would you say something? Drop a hint or maybe mention their profile name and see if they react? Or straight up say something?

Is that creepy? Would that panic you? And its always quite likely at a social event - has happened to us a few times. But then that's OK?

I think it would make me uncomfortable if I was at work or in Tesco but I do think Ireland is so small that it probably happens often to people.

Has anyone got a message saying "I saw you in....."

I know I've had that once or twice and it didn't bother me too much.

No but we often get messages from people who are convinced they seen Claire somewhere when it genuinely wasnt her at all lol. We have often seen people in public we would never say anything or drop any hints. Depending on how much we have chatted to have recognised them we may drop them a message later, but if we haven't chatted and just recognise from a pic that has been posted or sent to us we wouldnt say anything.

But then i'd frantically check my fab to see if they sent a message lol

I met someone I’d regularly cross paths with through work at one of my first socials. We both said hello and went on about our evening. Haven’t mentioned it since anytime we’ve met.

And I’d agree Ireland is a small country, we’re bound to know someone on here from real life

I have met quite a few fabbers out and about or have had people I know message me. Sometimes I make them aware that I know who they are other times I don’t bother if I don’t think it will be of any benefit.

If someone said it to me out and about I’d probably shrivel up inside lol

Oh no! I know we've had those too claiming to know where we work or live but they are caught out fairly fast when you ask the right questions. Being followed round the shops is another level of sinister though.

I hate to think someone would say something.. my kids could be right behind me, or my Mum.

Nobody has the right to approach a person like that.

I've had messages asking was I in a place at a time, by people I've never even met. Creepy!

Belfast

I've recognised a couple of people from fab socials when out and about but I would never acknowledge them because for various reasons including the fact they probably don't know who I am and I'm not going to start explaining in the middle of Lidl.

In the last year I've had FB friend suggestions for people I know through fab which can't be linked to anything because the phone number on my FB account is an old work number that doesn't exist anymore and it's a completely different email address.

None of those people have my name or number and some I've never met so I block them on there.

I've heard too many stories of people being followed home from socials or getting messages saying they had seen them somewhere to ever think it's a good idea.

Somewhere in Co. Down

I personally wouldn't say anything if I was out and about and saw someone who I thought might be on fab. I think it's completely inappropriate.

If it was someone I know well then I'd probably just say hi in passing and let it up to them if they want to chat or not.

I absolutely hate those creepy messages people send saying they saw me somewhere and to be fair so far it's not been me on any of those occasions. I even had one guy argue with me and insist I was this other woman and telling me in future he would just saw it to me when he thought he saw me. I pity that poor woman having some randomer coming up trying to insist she is on a site.

So no I wouldn't approach anyone just because I think they are on here because it is creepy as hell in my opinion.

It’s creeps me the fuck out when guys message me to say I saw you today or use my name and tell me they’ve seen me on another app. All when I’ve had zero interactions with them before.

It baffles me how they don’t realise that it’s creepy as fuck.

They always get very defensive when I point it out.

I have no problem if it’s someone I’ve met giving me a nod or a smile. If I know them well, I’m happy to stop for a chat if we’re both by ourselves. Otherwise, fuck off and leave me alone.

I don't get it. How would you know someone you met on the street is someone from Fab? Even if they are a friend on Fab or on your hotlist. I guess I can understand if they have a face pic, but if they only have body pics, how would you know?

The time it happened to me I had taken a pic of a pair of distinct unusual gym leggings and posted on Fab months before. I know one girl got outed in her local town for posting a pic on her stairs which again were very distinct. So now I'm careful what's in the background and what I'm wearing.

Messaging someone to say I saw you would be creepy I feel but that's just my opinion.

If I saw someone I had met previously socially or privately, which where I live I have, I just nod, if they want to chat fine if not that's fine too.

If I just knew them from pics or profiles I wouldn't say anything

Nope, wouldn’t say a word. Being in contact with a person “in these circles” is fine, but out there in the real world/ civilian life - discretion is key. Will look straight through a fabber in the Tesco’s aisle rather than say hello.

Quite simply op we wouldn't. Unless we are going somewhere to meet a particular fabber we would never just walk up to someone we know from here as we wouldn't know if they were in a position to chat or not with us. We have seen some fellow fabbers when we have been out and have met previously and if we happen to catch there eye or they catch ours we would just give them a subtle nod and carry on with what we were doing. Now if this happened in a suitable club we would gesture to see if they wanted to join us for whatever but in public we never give more than a nod as neither party has knowledge of the reason for the other party being there and we wouldn't want to be rude and interrupt

Not gonna say where I’ve seen them but have seen two different people I’ve talked to on here, gave them the polite nod,, smile and hello and nothing else.

I’m not meeting people on here to be besties in my personal life and I expert it’s the same for the majority, so a small bit of decency goes along way.

I've never recognised anybody, I keep a low profile & don't go to socials or parties because my privacy is paramount to me.

But a guy did once mail me here & asked was I in such a supermarket & the 'creepy' thing is I actually was........🤔

(I was a little 'free' with my face pics before & they got into the 'wrong' hands & were shared without me knowing, so that's how I was recognised I'd say)

I have seen one or two fabbers in shops and just smiled.

I would never mention Fab.

Strangest thing happened to me. I started chatting to a guy and we exchanged face pics after a while, we had never chatted before. Then he asked me did I have a good holiday in Benalmadena a few months previously!

Turned out he had been sitting near us in the airport coffee lounge and recognised me from then.

We get recognised regular as we have a very public facing job within events some big volumes of people. We also share our face pics here publicly.

We have also recognised or been recognised on here by neighbours, family school teachers and friends.

We love meeting people we know from here as the meet is usually electric but yes pick your moment to tell us. Don’t come up in Asda when I have my child and tell me my latest video swallowing 3 cocks was fab

Well...I suppose the climax of it for me was during my previous employment, I spotted my boss's wife at a social that ended up as a play party. For starters, he was no where in sight, so that made the whole situation even creepier.

Both of us recognised each other straight away but not a single word was said.

To me discretion is the main thing on fab, and that MUST be respected at all times, unless both parties mutually agree to be less discreet about it.

It happens a lot to me, but that’s a risk i take knowingly, as it’s just the nature of my life to be well known, both here and in my real life.

It doesn’t bother me, I am a single woman, and I don’t give a shit what people think of my sexual preferences. I imagine it’s a bit harder for couples.

What I don’t like is a dm from a stranger telling me they know who I am, or saw me somewhere - grow some balls and say who you are, otherwise don’t be annoying me.
