Has the age of the global superstar gone.

Will we see another Tom cruise, Bruce Springsteen or that ilk again. This generation seems to have a new flavour every other day.

Record sales are non existent and movies are forgettable

What are your thoughts

Record sales are non existent because people consume music differently now.

Approximately 10.2 million people worldwide attended Taylor Swift's Eras tour. It's the most attended tour in history. If that doesn't make her a global superstar I don't know what does

I was going to say Taylor Swift especially since they've been my favorite concerts of the last few years

I was reading an article that there is marked up tick in the economy where ever she plays. So much so that Singapore secured an exclusive deal to host the Era’s tour in Southeast Asia.

This agreement prevented the pop star from performing in other Southeast Asian countries during her tour. This caused diplomatic tensions with neighboring countries

It’s probably a generation thing, the Tom Cruise and Bruce Springsteen seem to be disappearing and yes Taylor Swift did an amazing tour, but where will she be in 40 years, we live in a fast changing society now and trends change quickly,

She released her first single 19 years ago so she's not doing too badly in a society where trends change quickly.

I imagine in 40 years time and at the grand old age of 75, she'll be enjoying a well earned retirement

Think she's on the downward part of her career now

Ed Sheeran is probably another one that would be famous enough

I'm also going to pitch in Rihanna, Drake, Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Eminem and One Direction.

For a little context, The Beatles' active career spanned 10 years

How much do artists make from streaming services now?

Record sales would be down, the latest model cars/vans don't have cd players

It's easier just hit play on Spotify

This generation seem to be going to more gigs than I ever did..

Global superstars...zach bryan is playing tonight...lastnight and tomorrow

Taylor swift brings her own financial wave with her wherever she plays

Garth Brooks seemed to do ok when he played here

Tom cruise...a hand full of decent enough movies...but more bad than good stuff

I wouldn't say it's gone, it's just a very different climate. Up until now you needed record sales to be relevant, people now don't even need radio play.

Social media dominates the entertainment scene, having your song being played as a trend on a TikTok dance is this generation's one hit wonder.

Podcasts are the new radio, you see that with the likes of the 2 Johnnys, not my personal choice of listening, but there's clearly a market for it when you have two lads talking shite and selling out a park 3 times.

Globally there are plenty of big names, the short-lived k-pop phenomenon...that was a weird one, the likes of Taylor Swift as already mentioned, Ed Sheeran tends to sell huge amounts when he tours, then you have the "aul lads" like Coldplay, The Rolling Stones...they have huge ticket sales.

So I wouldn't say the Global Superstar days are gone, times are just very different, which happens and as happened as time goes on.
